B12 Thread

I think having conference tourneys this year is nuts. But, if they are going to have them, it is probably best to just forget about making up games and get on with it.

IMO there is very little difference in teams 2-7 in the current standings. Throw Baylor out and OU, Okie Lite, Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas and West Virginia are all capable of beating each other and getting beat by the others. Let 'em play it out. Of course, some of them have to be in Baylor's side of the bracket.
you may be right -
in addition to not playin the "postponed games",
the league prob wont have the tourney either -

Last Regular Season Conference Championship:

Kansas - 2020
Texas Tech - 2019
Kansas State - 2019
Texas - 2008
Oklahoma - 2005
Oklahoma State - 2004
Iowa State - 2001
TCU - 1998 (WAC)
West Virginia - 1989 (A10)
Baylor - 1950 (SWC)

Baylor has literally cancelled pretty much every tough game they've had scheduled this year save Illinois. It's kind of insane really. I think they're really really good but at what point does the committee say "dude you gotta play sone games too "

Yeah. They are really good but they have ducked alot of games.

Baylor as an institution is an embarrassment to the Big 12 as well as the NCAA. I'm not surprised they are willing to manipulate COVID protocols to benefit their seeding.

Get swept by TCU in 2 games we should have won. Yeah that's weird. Sweep Tech and all is good.

Have Bedlam back to back to close out the season. Sweep them and we have a legit shot at a 4 seed. Split and it's a 6. Don't do so well and it's the dreaded 8 seed in the East.

Don't really care at this point. After so many years in the wilderness I'll take any tourney draw we get as long as it means we are back.

It is going to take care of itself IMO. They've taken so much time off they are bound to be rusty and will lose some of the games coming up. Don't think there is any college team good enough this year to go that long without playing and be able to pick it right back up. jmo

Tech really needed those two possible wins over TCU that got canceled....at least record wise.

I think you guys are going to be a real pain in the butt for some teams to play. All those freshman and sophomores have been around the block now and seem more mature.

I don't know. Michigan stepped right back in and played really well .

I just looked up some of these. To supposedly be a true double round robin conference, there have been so many cancellations it isn't very accurate as to who is better than who.

Good point. I could be wrong. Fresh legs/rust may be better than dead legs/sharp.

Hell, Kansas is the only team in the Big 12 that doesn't have a blank in the schedule. Had one postponed but made it up.

Baylor against WVU reschedule for Thursday.

Awesome and it's scheduled for 4 CST too so I can watch that then Iowa vs Michigan .

Yeah good timing with the game start.

Also, I'm curious what the Big 12 is going to do. After Monday, they don't have any games scheduled between then and the Big 12 tournament. Are they going to make up games, or use that time for testing, then create their own little version of a bubble in Kansas City where the tournament is being played? I hope some games get made up, but who knows?

Yeah. There has been a lot of debate on if Boynton was ready to he a high major HC. But the teams have shown they play better in February and March. It's how good coaches teams progress. My biggest knock on Travis Ford was his teams didn't do that. We would start out in November and December looking great, but once we got into conference play, he just got outcoached. You see some of the same with Boynton but comparing his experience to that of other head coaches in the league (hell Kruger coached in the Big 8) that's a really tough ask. But as far as playee development goes he seems to be doing a great job so you can overcome it.

B12 is probably better off not playing games. They don't really have any bubble teams that could benefit from playing more games and their top teams could really only hurt their seeding. The league has been the worst with Covid so it probably behooves them to make sure they get the tourney right so they dobt get outbreaks and have teams miss the tourney because of it

Thats good they at least rescheduled this one.

I chuckled when I saw today that Baylor conveniently returns to play when they got a game against league punching bag ISU.
