You're right. It feels like just 3 years ago, but Devonta was a Freshman, and won the Heisman two years ago now.

Still, it was 100% Kirby Smart. Richt had two SEC Championships and I don't think ever made it to the Natty. I think the closet he got was when UGA played FSU in the Sugar Bowl or something.
This is correct. It was Smart, for sure.

Richt would have been in a 4 team CFP in 2002, 2007, and 2012.

What some seem to not understand is that there is a different standard at a blue blood school than a non-blue blood school.

With what he did at USC, if Clay Helton was at UCLA with that same record...he's still their coach and likely on his 2nd extension. At USC, it gets him fired early in the season and people were calling for his head for at least 3 prior seasons.

The difference was that at USC the expectation is that you stand toe to toe with the best teams, every year and dominate the lesser teams. USC was beating the lesser teams, but not dominating them and getting embarrassed against the top teams.

That seems like Nebraska with Pelini.

^^ THIS ^^

Pelini got 7 years. That's more time than Solich, Callahan, Riley, and Frost got.

Yeah Pelini won 9 games/year, but 9 wins in 2014 college football is not the same as 9 wins under Devaney and Osborne. Pelini had more games to get to 9.

In today's football, one needs 11 wins to be relevant.

Pelini beat most of the teams he should have beaten, but got trounced by teams he should have been more competitive with.
In 7 years they weren't getting any better.

That Pelini has not had a P5 head coaching job since he left Nebraska is all one needs to know in evaluating his tenure at Nebraska.

You are a simpleton. You like the latest shiny object.
Talent wins in today's college football. Georgia from 2019-2022 have signed 18 five star recruits and 40 top 100 recruits. That is why they can lose 7 players off their defense last year (5 1st round NFL picks) and they don't skip a beat.

Bama is still the king of college football, but Georgia, with the absolutely ridiculous amount of in state talent they have, is the one team who could dethrone them and they aren't going anywhere, as they have their coach now and a backyard filled with elite recruits.

USC is the only real Football Power in their entire area. Arizona, Arizona State, and UCLA have had good teams but not on level of USC. I would argue USC is the only historically elite power West of Texas. (Oregon has had a nice rise and Washington has decent history but both are not on level of USC from a perception purpose).

This is a huge advantage for USC (or should be) from recruiting aspect.

Yeah, it's definitely an advantage.

That's why, if USC is in a down cycle, it always falls back on the coach. Even in down years, talent is rarely the problem because they get a certain number of recruits who always wanted to go to USC and for a kid who may want to play for a blue blood while staying close to home...there really is no other choice.

USC and Louisiana is LIGHT YEARS EASIER to recruit to, as they have elite talent in their own backyard.

The state of California has 6 five star recruits and 10 top 100 recruits in 2023. The state of Oklahoma has 1 top 100 recruit in 2023 and he gave his verbal to Michigan State.

The state of Louisiana, in what they consider a down year in recruiting, have 5 top 100 recruits. The state of Indiana has 0 top 100 recruits in 2023.

This isn't tough to understand. It is much easier to recruit a kid who grew up watching your school, cheering for your school, dreaming of playing for your school than it is to have to recruit 100% nationally.

You still have to coach those kids up, you simpleton.

For the one reason you slobber all over bulldog nuts, there are 10 reasons that show you're just a common simpleton.

The Texas Longhorns, USC Trojans, Florida Gators, etc. say you're a stupid simpleton that suckers for the latest shiny object.

You really do have to talk slow to you. Did you miss where I said you need the coach and the talent rich state? Did you miss where I said Georgia has found their coach?

And I agree, Texas, USC, Florida, etc. can be elite programs with the right coach. You can add Florida State, Texas A&M (if they continue buying recruiting classes) and i'm sure a select few others to the list.

Can you name a school who won't be on that list of programs who are just the right coach away from being elite? I will give you a hint -- they have no in state talent.

Since 2010

Texas: 83 - 67 (55%)
USC: 94 - 54 (63%)
Florida: 95 - 56 (62%)

That's just a few examples as to why WhoPhoneDis is just a simpleton who gravitates to shiny objects being the end all.

See my earlier post about also having bad ADs the last 20 years. Pederson was horrible, Osbourne tried but ended up retiring, Eichorst was bad, don't know enough about Moos. Let see how Trev does.
Moos evidently was absentee and drunk most of the time.

You've not seen me say we are the real Bama. To the contrary, whenever anyone pushes me in that direction, I post this gif:

I am not falling for that. I like what we are doing, but Bama is still Bama, and all roads to natties go through the gumps.
He likes to make up things people say to deflect from his own misery being a Nebraska fan. I made the statement a while back that if there is one team who could go on a run like Alabama has -- it is Georgia.

He has now turned that into Georgia is the new Alabama and everyone has to go thru Georgia. It is actually humorous. I've said a million times it takes a talent rich state, elite recruiting and finding the right coach. Georgia has seem to have found that now.

Did you miss where I said you need the coach and the talent rich state? Did you miss where I said Georgia has found their coach?

Because Georgia (in a weak SEC East) beat Alabama in a rematch?

Georgia beat Clemson 10-7.
NC State beat Clemson 27-21
Pitt beat Clemson 27-17 (Pitt had lost to Western Michigan)

Since 2007 rematches have had a new victor 50% of the time.

Simpletons like you don't look past shiny objects.

This puts a dent in 1/2 of your EASIER to recruit to point.

I'd argue that it's difficult to recruit at Louisiana, if nothing more than the simple fact that you have Louisiana State just down the road.

You know you're up against a simpleton when they have to inject Nebraska's failures into their argument that "Georgia is the new Alabama".

This isn't a one year thing and it isn't new. Again -- you are forgiven though as a Nebraska fan, I'm sure you haven't paid much attention to bowl season, as you haven't been to one in a while. Georgia has been pretty going on 6 years now.

You can inject Nebraska's failure into everything. It is quite easy. A lot of examples to use. :)
