Big East Basketball

I think Nova will get it going and probably win the league like always.

But this team just isn’t as lethal. And at somepoint needs to earn the ranking they keep receiving

I don't see too low of a floor for this team. They have too much experience. That said, the ceiling isn't high either.

It's a good year for someone else to win the BE, but I don't really see who.

I 100% agree. I think that really extends to the players as well.

Especially someone like Samuels but even guys like Gillespie and Moore.

They are all guys that don’t have any sort of crashing floor. But I don’t think the ceiling is there either. Samuels is more of a role guy so that’s obvious.

But even the other two. They are super solid and steady but from a casual viewer I don’t see a lot different from two years ago. Their games are not explosive enough.

I bet Nova is clicking come March though.

What a brutal loss

Couple things

#1. MU came out surprisingly aggressive built a 22-14 lead.
X comes back as the refs call TEN straight fouls against Marquette. 13-2 in free throw Des parity.

Xavier is the better team as is. Let’s try and call it somewhat fair. I’ll even allow for a bit of home cooking. But god.

#2. Haven’t watched much X this year but hope this zone they are running is due to the match up and not a usual thing. Cause holy fuck does it suck.

This MU team is not a good shooting team(but we love taking them) so running the worlds shittiest zone that allows only wide open looks, is not smart.

If X plays real D this should get ugly in half two.

Immediately got ugly in the 2nd half

Shaka rolled the dice(had to) and started Kolek with 3 fouls. He got his 4th right away.

Proving once again that Kolek could go 0-10 every game and he’s still must play 35 min guy.

Kolek came back in and we made the push. Got it to 1.

just can’t overcome 8 on 5 on the road. The officiating never got better.

This team is flawed as shit, misses way too many bunnies that lead to open buckets on the other end. Not a lot of weight room strength yet on D glass. But they fight.

Providence starts off BE play with a nice road win. Maybe they are the team to take the title from Nova?

You guys still have a pretty solid resume. That WVU win keeps looking better and better. Your metrics aren't that great, but Marquette will be around the cut line the whole year.

All about getting at least 10 in BE.

Unfortunately most of the “easy games” are at the end.

The first 14 games is basically a quest to 6 wins. Shit even 5 still gives hope. It’s a tough one.

Not a chance Providence. That program is too inconsistent.

Xavier, Seton Hall or UConn.

Can’t complain about the 5 fouls called on Marquette

But the 0 on UConn through 11 minutes with the same contact is a joke.

This shit didn’t happen in the non con. Makes me believe the BE has top teams to protect

Second straight game we cut the score to 64-63 then lose it.

Don’t have the horses yet.

But the culture and raw ability is there

Welp.

More shitty ass 1 sided officiating and inconsistent play aside.

This loss was 100% on Shaka. We win a game from down 17 if he fouls up 3. Fucking Wojos incompetent ass fouls there. Incredible.

An absolute wire to wire beat down. Fucking pasted Providence.

Game like tonight really makes me wonder though. I get it, when Shaka establishes his program and develops his guys he wants run and gun 3.

But the key to this team is length, raw talent/athleticism. They can’t shoot. So starting every game launching 3s 10 seconds into the clock isn’t smart.

Tonight it was all about moving the ball and pounding paint and we shot out the gates. It allowed the defense to establish themselves and smother Providence.

It won’t be a clinic like this every night. But please, with this group. Stick to getting to the rim and opening up 3 point shots as it goes.

Kolek running a passing clinic. Marquette gets up 19.

Refs proceed to call every foul on Marquette plus a T. Gtown ends the half on a 11-0 run.

Fouls are 10-2. The team driving at will has 2 fouls drawn.

It’s every big east game. We can’t have one even 50/50 whistle. This isn’t bias either. The Gtown board are laughing about it and thanking the refs

4 in a row. What a grind of a game.

Brutal call on AIken at the end, but it didnt decide the game. Aiken did grab Gregs arm before the shot. The difference woulda been more time on the clock and a 1 and 1(Greg made the free throw anyways).

Aiken is a whiny bitch and deserved it though. Every time he gets to the line its him launching into defenders and hurly profanities for a call.

No moral victories. But damn, leading by even just 1 pt at the half at the Pavilion is beyond anything I coulda expected.

Wont win this, but I really hope this half means we can keep this game from being any sort of NET ruiner.

Lets fucking go.

Regardless how this season plays out

This team isnt coached by Wojo anymore.
