Big East Basketball

Hell yeah, I'm here for all this.

I’d be lying if I said I thought we’d win, clearly.

But the moment I saw Hurley said that last night. I was like “fuck, game on”.

Kinda a toss up if they keep Baylor on the 2 line or give it to us

Personally I think the 3 is better for us. This team plays with a constant chip on their shoulder. Getting a 3 would do that again.

I personally think they deserve the 2. Baylor could also stay. It is sort of a toss up. I thought Nova was going to be a 3 last year, and they gave them a 2. But if they gave us a 3, they probably would have just swapped Tenn and Nova. And ... same difference.

And they put Baylor and Marquette in the same bracket, it doesnt matter as much.

There's also an outside shot they give it to Gonzaga.

Also, the East regional is in MSG this year.

Yeah being the last 2 or the top 3 really isnt much of a difference.

I think its tough arugment to not give it to a team that won its league in both regular and post season of a power league. And we boat raced Baylor head to head. But at same time if we get a 3 I wont be pissed.

We are undefeated since the top 16 reveal though

Yea, I think the Big 12 is going to overseeded. I mean don't get me wrong, they are good, but they are not THAT good.

But they deserve to get seeded high because they won the games OOC.

I would like to see either Marquette or UConn in the East.

The games today don't mean squat, so they've probably already finished the bracket.

BTW, what do you think of Shaka Smart and Marquette potentially playing Texas?

Ha simple answer is I would love it because it most likely means its a elite 8 or final 4 game. Sweet 16 at the worst.

Would be a heck of a story line. Texas is legit. I do think we match up pretty well with them tho, As far as top seeds are concerned they would be one of my preferred options

I guess you have to consider them contenders, but you just look at the best guys on their team, Carr, and Bishop and Timmy Allen, and I just think it falls apart at some point. Especially without Beard.

But we'll see. I think Shaka would love to face them.

Yeah I also think Hunter is possibly the most overrated player of the last couple years.

Carr could carry them though. But he also might shoot them completely out of a game as well.

I do really like Rice the 6th man.

Youre right though about Shaka probably wanting that game. And with the way MU looks for a reason to feel slighted(whether right or wrong) I feel like that the type of game where they would use that fuel.

Georgetown stealing providence coach...those jesuits love inbreeding

St John's has hired the crypt keeper....look out and don't let him near the assistants wives

I think he can bring them back to bubble relevance, but he's too old to bring them back to national relevance.

As far as Cooley, I think he can easily bring Gtown back to where Providence is now, so you're just really swapping Gtown for Providence suck...

But there is a smaller chance he could get them back to Houston type good

Jay Wright itching to come back and smack down these moes... providence on line 1 jay

St John's being cheap....

I think if he comes back to coach it will be in the NBA.
Yeah, portal, NIL, etc doesn’t make college hoops as appealing to a lot of guys. Hoops has been a recruiting cesspool for a long time. Swimming around in that…and worse…just doesn’t appeal to a lot of guys.

KP rating by year for Ed Cooley's Providence program

2012 #126 (no NCAAT)
2013: #69 (no NCAAT)
2014: #48 (#11 seed; Round of 64)
2015: #27 (#6 seed; Round of 64)
2016: #44 (#9 seed; Round of 32)
2017: #60 (#11 seed; First Four)
2018: #63 (#10 seed; Round of 64)
2019: #79 (no NCAAT)
2020: #40 (COVID)
2021: #80 (no NCAAT)
2022: #32 (#4 seed; Sweet 16)
2023: #45 (#11 seed; Round of 64)

i would consider 2022 a great season for Providence. top 4 tournament seed and a good run in the NCAAs. 2015 was also solid. Got upset in the first round that year but that is how the tournament plays out sometimes. Outside of that it is a whole lot of meh. I consider Cooley to be an above average coach. tbh, his teams have a unique ability of being on the right side of the bubble. His resume looks a whole different if they had a tad worse luck in 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2023.

He will return to Georgetown back to respectability but if they were looking for a coach that was going to return them to the top tier of college basketball then they struck out.
