Big East Basketball

I think Marquette should have gone after at least one transfer, but they should be OK.
There was no one to get.

Only way to get a transfer is if there was a bonafide 4 thats better than Joplin and Ross plus stunting any development of Jop/Ross/Gold(or even keeping them around). And that transfer would almost have to score at a Jop type level and have Ross atheltcism and D versatility.

Basically they would have to at the very worst be what an assumed Omax would have been had he stayed with another year under his belt.

The coaches voting Soriano 1st team BE is one of the more laughable things I've ever seen.

Marquette picked 1st though.
I mean that was kinda the obvious default even with the league being stacked this year

But Soriano being 1st team is lazy and hilarious. Look at SJU stats with him on the court last year. Hes the definition of empty counting stats. Pitino even said at media that the the next time he gets in a D stance will be the first time.

Clingan, Oso, Dixon are all considerably better basketball players.

KenPom Ratings on 11/7:

1. UConn (4th nationally)
2. Creighton (12th nationally)
3. Marquette (13th nationally)
4. Villanova (22nd nationally)
5. Xavier (38th nationally)
6. Providence (53rd nationally)
7. St. John's (59th nationally)
8. Seton Hall (60th nationally)
9. Butler (85th nationally)
10. DePaul (113th nationally)
11. Georgetown (163rd nationally)

DePaul just always the black eye on the league

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd DePaul loses again, unbelieveable.

Henley is still awful. Addition by subtraction.

DePauls home crowds are so embarrassing and losing buy games isnt going to help. Playing Long Beach at 9 pm on a Saturday was mental.

If they keep losing like this all relatively close BE teams are going to have full blown home games.

Such a sad state for a program that used to be great.

Woooooooooooooof day for the BE.

X losing at Purdue very expected.

But Pitino getting boat raced at home?? Cmon. Michigan is definitely better than expected but sheesh. Thats what happens though when the only guy you bring back from last years team is the big man who cant defend. Like 5 guys from last years SJU team would be their best defender this year.

Nova to Penn. Damn. Still a lot of talent for Nova, they should be fine. But my god early returns are Neptune still blows. Why is Longino logging 3rd most minutes.

Unforuntately not sure MU will help the cause. We always. suck first road game, Illinois is a tough venue and imo another underrated team. And no Kolek/hobbled Kolek adds to that. If it wasnt first road game Id like our odds even without TK but its a MU curse first road game. And no TK means Kam might have to play some PG which doesnt let him focus on bucket getting which he does better than just about anyone.

MD/Nova is basically a must win for both now given how each has started. Neither conference has gotten off to a good start. Will be interesting to see what happens with the rest of the Gavitt Games.

Transfer portal is hit or miss.

The chemistry for these 'insta-teams' is going to be a work in progress.

It's just something to get used to, but sad... since the Big East made its bones on keeping guys.

Kolek is ridiculous. What a half.

Kolek is ridiculous. What a half.

Foul trouble messed with his flow. But Kam is a fucking marvel to watch too. Every single lay up that guy takes is a different shot, different angle and somehow goes in at an elite rate.

First road game as expected had a lot of slop. We missed every open 3. 10 lay ups. 1 wide open dunk and went 0/10 on fast breaks but still won.

Luckily we got mostly any shot we wanted so when we didnt biff it we had open looks.

But yeah, Kolek is special. Dude coasted vs the cupcakes and let other guys handle the ball a lot. Today he said get out of the way.

Lot of guys disappointed with easy miscuses today but the one player through 3 games irking me a bit is Oso.

Hes a fucking freak as a point forward and per rumor hes 100% gone after this year.

But bro, if you wanna play in the NBA you cant airball free throws. And if your gonna suck at free throws you cant miss every single shot you are slightly bumped on. Potential And 1's turn into 0-2 at the line.

So much potential but hes gotta either learn to shoot or score in contact.

Illinois bigs are a bunch of hacks and I thought some of those blocks were goaltends.

Still, they wanted it, so it was a good win.

Yeah I think the Kolek one where he floated it was definitely a goal tend. But TK coulda passed there and at that point we were like 0/8 on fast breaks(as a fast break team) so I couldnt even get mad.

Illinois was a good early test though because that dont switch anything in pick and roll. They keep everything 1 on 1. So it took away our shooting and made players like Joplin look brain dead. Forced us into 1 on 1 ball with only 7 assists.

But it also left them in a spot where they had to take on Kolek and Kam 1 on 1 which is quite a ballsy give and take strategy. So good to play a bit of a different style.

Illinois will be interesting. Great size and lots of potential. But they cant shoot for shit and are kinda dumb. WIll see if that improves as year goes on.
