Big East Basketball

Dixon has been killing people, he's been our best player. Everybody else has been a mixed bag at best.

Funny thing about Kolek is his shooting numbers on the season are respectable. When I've seen him play, it's been brick city.

They need him to shoot better, and Ighodaro to be more consistent, but It's just too early to say right now. I wouldn;t be suprised if we beat UConn next week, and everybody else is losing.

Kolek was 52/42 prior to the Seton Hall game. It was a brutal two games but just two games. But his shot has looked really bad

With Oso its kinda just the type of player he is. Hes a swiss army knife but will never consistently be a go to scorer. You can usually tell pretty quickly if its gonna be a Oso game or not. Like today when he had the two oops immediately

Nova is gonna be fine. With Neptune they will be inconsistent but they are a clear cut tourney team.

DePaul now 309 in the NET

Thats a fucking joke. Boot em

There just simply wont be a game where we even accidentally shoot well from 3.

OUtscoring St Johns 22-12 in the paint. We are 0/10 from 3. Its every single game. Somehow we returned 8 guys and every guy got worse at shooting

Not sure we win a road game besides hopefully DePaul the worst team in D1.

How many games has Marquette been down at the half?

Feels like every game.

This Creighton / Seton Hall game has been pretty good.

Marquette so deserved to lose that game...

Marquette so deserved to lose that game...

That was wild.

One 1 hand we played maybe the best 15 minutes any team in the country has played all year to start the second half.

Then we went away from the Kolek/Oso pick and roll which SJU had 0 chance to stop. Tired legs missed the free throws. Thats why we need Ross back. No bench right now.

Will never be able to rebound but our defense is really fucking good, was not expecting that this year. Need the offense to look more like the second half(pre collapse) team.

Can't have your star player and 90+% FT shooter brick a front end in that situation.

And Joplin.

Also allowed 3 offensive rebounds. Team goes through mental lapses

Still they have the ability to string together big runs at anytime

Ashworth is the perfect example of somebody who's too small and slow to play Big East night after night, but one game in March, he can light you up.

Kolek gets a pass he went for 15/11/6 and didnt sit the entire second half. Sometimes they pop off.

Shaka having us abandon the pick and roll needs the explaining. Oso is way too good and athletic for that big dumb Soriano

Seton Hall has an absolute horseshoe up their ass. This years Providence.

St John's is going nowhere tho.

They shold have put that game away

They play hard for Holloway.

Theyll get into the tournament and lose their first game by 25 points

SJU is still solid tho and just getting a road win was needed.

Especially since at Nova is really the only true challenge in our next 5. Assuming we dont pull another Butler.

@Nova is a good game.

Because you don't which Nova team you'll get, even in Philly. And it's a Q1 game either way.

I think we'll beat UConn tonight, and then turn around and lose to St Johns

I actually do think you beat Uconn.

Since Nova is home I expect you to beat us. But we are a pretty poor match up for you under Shaka. Novas D isnt well equipped for our offense. Im guessing Neptune cant possibly be dumb enough to wait until the game is already over to finally go drop coverage this second time tho. He will at least try it.

But its usually drop coverage by teams who run it frequently that gives us fits.

Communication on defense is a big weakness for us, but we have a lot of strength at every position, so it works out sometimes.

UConn has benefitted from Newton, and Spencer. Both are far better than anybody could have imagined.

Spencer is a nice player, wish Nova had gone after him.

Newtons all around game is still really strong, but his efficiency shooting the ball has seen a massive regression to the mean lately

Spencer has been a crazy good pick up. Uconn very fortunate because that bum Timberlake for KU was their priority they missed on him and got Spencer instead. Better to be lucky than good

1 other thing for MU moving forward.

Zaide Lowerys emergence. Barely played for a lot of the year. But was raved about coming in for his all around make up, long and athletic as fuck. Can rebound, defend and smooth stroke.

He was the only guy who showed a pulse vs Butler in second half with his energy. Made two huge 3s vs Nova. 2 key buckets vs SJU today and was in while we built the huge lead and game shifted(for many other reasons) when he subbed out. Was also massive in our 1st half turn around vs Texas locking up Abmas with his length.

Injuries mean more minutes. Hes a legit NBA body/athlete. If he can give good 16 minute outings thatll help.

Bad loss by Seton Hall to a hobbled Providence team.

To be fair, Hall didnt have Richmond.

Is Providence really hobbled? I mean obviously Hopkins is out but hes flat out never coming back so they are what they are now. I think everyone else played unless I missed someone.

Wusu with a solid 0/13 in a 4 pt loss.
