Big Ten Basketball

The road loss excuse is nice but it doesn't apply when you're losing to shit teams like Michigan and Penn State. Who can't even beat teams like McNeese and Bucknell on their home courts.

If we coulda beaten Penn State and Michigan we would be sitting nice at 14-3 and 4-2 in B1G play, but instead we are 12-5 and 2-4 in B1G play, teetering on the edge of another January/February meltdown that leaves us out of the tournament.

If Holtmann loses to Penn State at home on Friday he should be fired on the fucking spot.

Nebraska's road loss to Minnesota hurt. The Huskers were up 39 - 24 at half (15 points), but lost the 2nd half 52 - 26 (26 pts) and lost by 11 points 76-65.

That's complete collapse.

The Wisconsin road loss wasn't unexpected, but the 94 - 76 loss @ Iowa was bad.

Losing @ Indiana for us is whatever but the Penn State and Michigan losses were just season killers

The Wisconsin home loss where we flopped and blew it down the stretch is just insult to injury

This team is pretty much on the same path as last years team that ended up finishing the regular season 13-18 and 5-15 in B1G play after starting 10-3 and 2-0 in Big 10 play.

Nebraska has that huge home win over Purdue, but that win means nothing in regards to getting to the NCAA Tournament if Nebraska can't win all of their home games and steal a couple wins on the road.

Gophers today were woooooooooooof

Ben got schooled by Fran.

Good win for Iowa

Coming along nicely

Putting Dix on the starting lineup has been a savior

McCaffrey is fucking awful and Bowen can't shoot. Going to Dix has just made a huge difference. Spacing is so much better and now the bigs get room to operate because you can't sag off Dix like you can Bowen or McCaffrey

Just awful stuff. This team still isn't close. Ben is legit not a good coach.

They were 23/29 on 2s today. But Ben thought it was a good idea to let them keep jacking 3s. Iowa on the other end never abandoned the paint and it worked.

My main concern for the team is showing itself lately though. Just not enough size and strength to be good defensively against big 10 bodies. As much of a surprise Mitchell and especially Hawkins have been, they are simply too small to stop any guard size(Hoggard might back them down all game Thursday) and in the post only Payne has the combo of D ability and size.

Yeah, letting them continue to jack up 3's is inexcusable.

And yeah, we just have a limited roster on top having a coach who's probably in over his head. Not a good combination. We'll see how the game against MSU goes. They will be by far the best team we've played this season. Gonna guess a loss by like 12-15 or so, if not worse.

As of yesterday, Michigan's only conference win was @ Iowa back on Dec 10th.

There are 6 Big 10 teams who have yet to get a road win.

Nebraska (0-3)
Iowa (0-2)
Ohio St (0-3)
Mich St (0-3)
Penn St (0-3)
Rutgers (0-3)

Did you go to the @moxie school of math ?
He’s about to graduate from the Moxie Beat My Ass School if he doesn’t stop throwing my words back in my face!!

Fwiw, Lunardi is one of the worst bracketologists out there. I wouldn't use him. He's never been great, but he's been especially bad in the NET era. I don't think he understands the quadrant system and how it's used very well.

Next two games are big. Thing they have to try and win 1 to salvage a respectable season and Bens job.

Lose both and I'm not sure they ever get out of the slide.

Bens biggest issue is he doesnt play his best guys. JOJ isnt great defensively and his game doesnt really fit real well as a 3 man but hes one of the best at scoring in bursts. Ihnen should never play. Payne and Christie are the other two who need to play more. Payne should never gte only 14 minutes and Christie is like the only guard that can truly get his own high % shot.

Ill keep saying it, but having Garcia be the priority is mental. The offense bogs down with him its too much iso. Hes naturally gifted but that doesnt offset the flow he kills, hes not great defensively or strong on the boards and cant shoot this year. Stop playing through him.

Next two are huge, but I doubt we take one the way we're playing. Yeah, I don't think his lineups have been great all year. No consistency with his lineups. Seems to just be going game to game, which is okay if someone is shooting it well, but I still don't understand his substitution patterns. We gotta play a lot better.
