Hard to take KenPom seriously when Illinois only drops one spot after their ONLY signature win (#7 FAU) lost to (6-9) Florida Gulf Coast yesterday.

Not to mention their best player (Terrance Shannon Jr) is likely suspended for the rest of the year.
He was 3rd in KemPom's Player of the Year race. He was averaging 21.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 33.0 minutes per game while shooting 51.4% from the field and 40.8% from beyond the arc.

I don't see KenPom as a predictive ranking. It just measure past performance.

According to KenPom: "The purpose of this system is to show how strong a team would be if it played tonight, independent of injuries or emotional factors."

Well (11-2) Nebraska beat (8-5) Michigan St, yet Sparty is ranked 20th in today's KenPom where Nebraska is 51st.

As I'd stated #7 FAU was Illinois' ONLY signature win. They'd lost to the only two other ranked teams they played (Marquette and Tennessee).

I don't see KenPom, RPI, or BPI measuring anything with accuracy.
 
ESPN's "Matchup Predictor" heavily favors home court.

Heck, anyone can do that "Matchup Predictor" with literally zero analysis.

You can choose to see it however you want but the creator said that it is a predictive model and is not meant to evaluate past performances.
 
KenPom basic stat is Points per Possession. A stat that has already occurred. But, we are agreeing. It is not a good ranking.

It is a poor predictive model. At most, it says if a team plays their average game, the difference between them and their opponents average creates a 50/50 bet.

Every predictive model uses past results to predict future outcomes. What else would they base it on? Good vibes?
