Conference teams that played 10 P5 opponents in 2022...

Who here is making that claim? Ohio State and Michigan are good usually. Penn State is a wildcard but not usually taken seriously, Wisconsin in that same category sometimes. The rest sucks.

Michigan is a very recent thing, as in the last 2 years. If you look at the previous 15 years, michigan is 6th in the conference in wins. In those 15 years, Wisconsin is actually 2nd in the conference and 8th in the entire FBS while Penn State is 14th.

I'd rather play them every year. You have to play and beat the Big Dog to take their spot. And, you can't beat them if you ain't playing them.

The claim that B1G is a power conference is a holistic topic. That does encompass scheduling and everything else.

They didn't get beat, they got destroyed. Be glad that a lesser team got destroyed so the better team got the CFP nod? Weird, but you also have no proof UT would've gotten in if they could've beaten the mighty 5-loss Gamecocks. We already saw them get smoked by UGA once, why put the nation through it again when you have a better team in OSU to put in there?

I don't see anyone claiming FL, LSU, or Auburn as "constant legit national title contenders". I see them constantly in the preseason top 25...along with PSU and Wiscy.

The bottom ring of the top 25 is always laughable. Anything outside of like the top 12-15 is a mash of average.

Who cares that they finished #23. Look at their overall body of work. It wasn't very good. We all know Clemson was about the worst 11 win team you'll ever see. Of course they got a gigantic boost for beating them as well.

Their overall body of work is that of a top 25 team. I'm not hyping them up. They had some very good wins(Clemson, Tennessee) and some bad losses(Missouri, Florida). They had a top 25 SoR. Their resume(wins/losses) is that of a top 25 team.

This was assuming they won and he stayed healthy. At 11-1 without Hooker they probably don't get selected because of his injury, but they undoubtedly would have had a better resume at 11-1 than OSU.

Ohio State only got in with a backup QB in 2014 because the other alternatives were TCU or Baylor. I think we all know that resume definitely isn't the end all when lots of money is involved.

SEC plays the least amount and they also play some teams that are not Division I. I think that is way the SEC always has trouble in the playoffs.

I think my point is if the other options were like Auburn or Florida, Ohio State would not had gotten in with a backup QB, even if their overall resume was clearly better.

And it makes the whole conference looks stronger as a whole when they all basically get a extra free W, since we know they arent using that 4th OOC game to play anyone worth a fuck.

I get all that - I was for the 9 game IC schedule. But at the end of the day, when we meet up with the best of the other conferences, we win more than any other conference. So, sure, it's a cop-out for the SEC and I hope and expect they will go to 9 IC games. But let's not act like that's why we are the best conference with the best teams.

Thank you @ericd7633 for the link. I am a Michigan Alumni and I love my Alma Mater, but that is some bullshit weak action. I am in favor of playing one Respectful P5 Program … the better the better. I can list many teams that would meet that qualification Georgia and Alabama are on the the top of my list.

I was being cynical when talking about the SEC (green font on my phone is beyond my talent)… the SEC is the best conference in college football (proved by wins not opinion).

Still love Michigan - GO BLUE.

I do think the schedule gets tougher after this year.

Pretty much every conference has 1 or 2 teams carrying the load.

Difference is the rest don't pretend their just good occasionally better than good teams are constantly beating down the door for national titles. The way some SEC people talk you'd think 90% of the conference was in the running for a national title every year.

It's not that there are 6-8 great every year. Even with an 8 game schedule, you can't have that. And we've seen some of our historical teams cycle down the past decade - looking at you UF, UTjr and Auburn.

But, no other conference has come close to having 6 schools win NCs since the BCS/CFP era. Not even close - ACC (2), B1G (1), B12(2) both of whom are moving to the SEC, PAC (1), SEC (6) with 4 of those schools have 2+ (Bama, LSU, UF and UGA).
