Dealerships are the fucking worst!

My son just bought a 2021 Grand Cherokee and the dealership wanted 2200 bones to install a class 3 hitch.
He got one installed at a U-Haul location for 950.

Go figger.

I only go to the dealership for them to do maintenance because I lease and it's covered. Otherwise, it's always wise to have a mechanic you trust in your contacts. The dealership is full of crooks... they did try to screw me over last year because they said I took too long to bring the car in for an oil change. Threw that back in their faces and reminded them that they said they were pushing it out because i had such low mileage (thanks, covid), but I was still shocked/not shocked they tried to pull a fast one and were going to attempt to charge me for an oil change... which is something near $200 for the same job at half the price at a regular mechanic.
A $200 dollar oil change?

Starbucks ought to do oil changes.
Apparently Moxie is driving a pretty expensive car for a $200 dollar oil change so Starbucks would be right up her alley

Since 2003 I've purchased two new trucks and one used (3 years) one. the first Ram 2500 had 99,000 miles in 4 years so I traded it for an 2007 Ram 2500 that had a lifetime drive train warranty and when the factory warranty on everything aside from the drive train I bought a bumper to bumper plan with a $100 deductible, roadside assistance, free rental, trip interruption, and all that jazz. It cost me 2K and Chrysler service plans financed it interest free for 24 months. It was one of the better decisions I've made when buying vehicles. $84/mo, fixed cost and no worries. I ended up extending that to 150,000 miles for another 2K and that 4K total easily paid for itself with a couple of big dollar items and all the free rentals from Enterprise while my truck was in the shop.

The latest truck was 3 years old when I bought it and came certified pre-owned so it had a 1 year bumper to bumper plan with all of the features listed above except there was no deductible.. Before that expired I hooked up with my friend that sells Toyotas and she talked her finance guy into giving me a killer deal on a zero deductible, 4 year, 50K miles plan with all the bells and whistles for under 2 grand and they also financed it for 24 months, no interest. I put some new Michelins on it in January and a battery last Thursday so until the brakes need attention I'm covered for everything else. If I still have it in two years I will do anther 4 year/48K mile plan without hesitation. It's all about fixed cost.
