Deshaun Watson

I would tell him to play and STFU.
He signed as the QB not the GM. He's signed through what, 2025 with well over a hundred million on his deal. If he wants to sit out, fine him every single day...and dont give it back when he shows back up. What's he gonna do? Sit out the year? They are gonna suck anyway, go ahead. Then what? Gonna set out 4 more years and give back all that money while having 4 prime years inactive? Go ahead. That bluff wouldn't fly if someone would actually call it

What bluff? The only thing we know about Watson is that he only request for a trade. If you're Houston you have to be realistic and think about if you can acually accomplish anything and become a contender within the next 4-5 years with Watson. If not, best to just hit the hard reset and get value while it's there

The Rams should have gone after Watson rather than Stafford.

dont know if the Rams could afford Watson.
Rams are well over the cap now. Stafford/Goff trade lowers it some. Watson would have increased it.

think that will be a hard sale.

putting all that stock into the offense & have to dismantle your defense to do it.
Dont see that happening.

Jets could pull off the draft picks, but dont have much on defense.

That's absurd. I would expect him to show up and do his job. If he didn't, he could sit. Would I trade him? Sure. Five 1sts and two young starters. Otherwise, he could sit and spin. He has four years left on his deal. ZERO leverage

While I do agree with your premise and idea, I’m just not sure someone like the Texans should pass up 3 firsts and and a mid round pick or a young starter. Even if it’s not their perceived value of what they should get for him.

If I were a Texans fan, hell ya I would take that. But I am not so I would like them to do it for principle.

At the end of the day if you are the Texans you myswell get something for him. Sticking to your guns for an outrageous amount will only let you hold your pride that won’t win you football games.

I'd ask for 3 or 4 1st's, a star player and if they have one their young QB...nothing less. You need to get max value for this type of QB in his prime, if a team is desperate enough (like the Jets) they should pay the price and actually be going into this thinking "did we lose this trade?" for it to be fair.

For example:
Jets I would ask for 3 1st's, mid-round, Darnold and Quinnen Williams.
Colts: 3 1st's, mid-round and Darius Leonard
49ers: 3 1st's, mid-round, Jimmy G and Nick Bosa

I don’t disagree with the ask. But if they are offered something a small bit less (2 1’s and a 2 or 3) I’d argue it’s wise to take it. Im totally not sure if Watson and Texans can ever be healed but it sounds like it can’t. It feels like the longer the Texans wait the less value he will be. Not accepting a trade offer because it’s not in their value while he allegedly will hold out will only serve the Texans to hold their pride. That does not win football games.

Watson should not have signed the contract in September if he had issues with the teams direction.
I have no sympathy for him.

It looks like the Texans set a price but this is just a starting one lol...I think that kinda goes along with what I said.

"2 ones, 2 twos and 2 young defensive starters, at the least"

Smart move IMO on their part to start high, because unless multiple teams are going to bid for that (doubtful) then this offer will only go down. But if it’s something very close (ex two 1’s and a 2 and a young defensive starter) I’d think hard about taking it if I’m the Texans. To put this huge problem/distraction behind you and be able to rebuild.

Yeah the picks is doable but 2 defensive starters...I guess they don't have to be stars but that is quite a bit. I guess you could throw in a young guy with a decent veteran...it is high but kudos to them.

Agreed, it’s a lot to ask. But the had to know the likelihood hood of getting this isn’t high. But getting something close is doable. I’d hope the Texans are smart enough to think 2 firsts and a second is the absolute minimum.

You never know with this organization but with BoB gone they have a chance lol
