Euro 2020 (err 2021 now)

Great deep read on this squad. All I had to go on was the highlights from yesterday, but that makes sense. The right back line isn’t giving up a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes to go.
Would you say the same thing about Spain? They also blew a 2 goal lead late.

I think it's a combination of poor coaching and the Euro schedule in which we're seeing a record own goals and goal scoring up in general.

Much better than watching those grind it out 1-0 wins.

Honestly, I’ve not watched two minutes of Spain this tournament. Can’t say what’s up with them at all. Generally, I’ve just felt like their an aging squad.

I have been having the same thought watching these games. Damn you pandemic. No one feels at top form. It’s been sloppy….and I swear every game I’ve been able to watch has been a 1-0 slog.

They are aging, and don't really have much depth, they've been a bit lucky so far, and IMO only advanced because Croatia is even more aging.

Normally not a fan of Pogba, but we played well yesterday, Mbappe, and others (except Benzema) couldn't finish. I've never been a fan of Griezmann, too much ego, he acts like he's in the same strata as Messi, Ronaldo, etc (he's not even close) and more concerned with his image than anything.

I watched all or parts of all of France's matches, it's clear Kante is the heart of that team, if not for him, they definitely wouldn't have won the group.
Pogba played well throughout the tournament, maybe because he has Kante next to him instead of Fred at Man U. Fred has actually been quite good for Brazil but could be the competition so far in the Copa. But Bruno Fernandez has Fred next to him too at Man U has looked great for them.

Missed most of the games this past week due to travel, but i was able to catch a replay of the France/Switzerland game last night. What a wild ride man.

Sports are great.

You’re read on Griezmann is spot on. But, I’ll say this….I would take a player like him on the US squad in a heartbeat. Yeah, I know, hot take.

I would be fine with dealing with the ego issues, etc. While he’s not an absolute top world player I respect the game. He’s often around the ball, either contributing to D or setting up a scoring opportunity.
Griezemann is a Germany killer. Killed Germany in 2016 Euros, and took Bayern out in UCL semis a few years back with Atletico. That is why I don't like him.

Spain coming out of some significant COVID issues. I think they are a team to be dealt with still. One of the Croatia goals was a fluke yesterday. I am a big fan of Olmo. Sparked them in OT.

Makes sense. They felt due for a roster rollover. Those can be treacherous. Croatia surprised me….I didn’t realIze they were so close to aging out when they made the final in 2018.

Gareth Southgate whenever Sancho says he's ready to start:

I’ll share something I rarely say…..I enjoy a good England team. Looking at that sentence you can see how I can rarely say that. It rarely happens.

I feel very neutral with this game. Just want it to be a great game. Based on both teams so far I’m not super hopeful.

Wow. That was a yellow on England? You can see it shouldn’t have been on the replay.

England's strength and best asset are it's attacking midfielders and wingers, so of course Southgate puts in a lineup that keeps as many of them out as possible.

IMO, he's just a better dressed version of Sam Allardyce, he doesn't play to win, he plays to not lose.

Yeah…I don’t see them winning in the box or on set plays. They are just physically outmatched (as is the way with Mannschaft)

Lackluster first half. I feel like we are just waiting for Germany to connect on one. Then they just hunker down and I can’t see England breaking through that wall.

Werner should’ve scored. Didn’t elevate his shot at all. Typical Werner.

Breakthrough…..

Look what happens when they can sub in a spark, Kane can get open for a moment and Sterling doesn’t have to be the only one trying to create. Very nice.

Imagine with Sancho in also, you know that guy that plays week in week out against the Germans.

Muller missed a sitter.
