Euro 2020 (err 2021 now)

HOLY SHIT!

I think a player on Denmark just died.

They're trying to revive him it looks like but obviously the players are trying to shield what's going on. This looks REALLY bad
Wow, just caught some video. That horrid. Hopefully they pull him back around and get him to hospital. These are rarely turned around when they happen to athletes like this.

Holy fuck I hope Eriksen is okay.

A couple outlets mention he resided his arm to the crowd while stretchered off. I haven’t seen video, but I hope thats the case.

beINSports on Twitter saying UEFA is saying he's alive and stable in the hospital. Hope that's true. That's excellent news considering what we saw live

Great news

They just showed a picture of him on the broadcast as he's being carried out, his eyes are open and he has his hand on his head. So apparently and thankfully, the CPR and chest shocks were able to revive him there on the field.

Watching it live, he was completely out and in dire circumstances. You could see them massaging his neck and chest area trying to get him to breath and then they moved on to chest compressions and shocks. No idea why the live feed kept showing that because that was so scary and inappropriate to show.

Here's a similar pic that they just showed

Also, some incredible quick thinking by Danish captain Simon Kjaer. They're saying he checked to make sure Eriksen hadn't swallowed his tongue and then moved him safely into the prone position until the med staff could reach them.

Everything I saw was the players circling and blocking the view, but I wasn’t following the live stream from the moment…more just trying to get news after the moment.

I agree with you on this. That’s someone having a truly horrid and compromised moment. It doesn’t need to be televised, as much as humans enjoy a train wreck.

I feel like media has been smarter on these kinds of things lately (Zombro getting hit in the head….him convulsing wasn’t broadcast on every outlet).

This sounds like there wasn’t that awareness for restraint in the moment.

My guess is UEFA, who controls feed, wasn't aware of how serious it was. Maybe they couldn't quite make out what was happening as the players were shielding the view as best to their ability. I thought you could see it pretty clearly but maybe they were in more of a panic about what to do.

Such a shocking moment. I remember a kid on another team we were playing as a kid (soccer too) fainted. It was hot, nothing more than that. He was up and walking in five minutes. But all of us had that look on our face, and the energy to play the rest of the game was frankly shot to hell after just that.

Kjaer showed great presence of mind. What clip I did see the trainer were across the field and on him fast. All of these things could have helped.

Wow.

Eriksen spoke with his team from the hospital and now they've resumed the match. Incredible.

Crazy moment, scary. Glad to hear he is okay. You were sitting there thinking holy fuck, I just watched Christian Erickson die on international tv. I was getting pissed wondering where the fucking ambulance was.

Russia doofing it with mistakes.

Kinda overshadows the fact that Finland just won their very first Euro Championship game...ever.

Good for them….but yeah….they are kind of overshadowed on this one.

Good to hear that Ericksen is "stable" in the hospital. For a moment, I thought I had watched a death on live TV

Don’t sleep on fucking North Macedonia tomorrow.

@ralphiewvu get your fucking bets in......
Unfortunately I’m in Delaware and can’t bet (legally) From anything I didn’t bet on in PA earlier. But I am 2 for 2 today. Norwegian league Molde was kind and Belgium found a 3rd late for me. Wooooo

Tomorrow I got:
over 1.5 on England/Croatia
over 3.5 on BodoGlimnt
over 2.5 on netherlands game

So happy Erickson is ok. That was scary shit.

Hey air raid, you’re in Texas. Met K.C. Keeler today. Nice guy, just won the NC in 1-AA with Sam Houston St. I guess he still vacations in Delaware.
