Euro 2020 (err 2021 now)

Yeah, if there were more effective subs to make I don’t know. But there couldn’t have been less effective subs. And so late too.

I’ll say this….Euro and World Cup soccer is not the same without a solid Mannschaft. Could it be that the DFB feels too close on things to make a change now? They are in Euros and jump right to qualifying after this.

I wonder if they feel like a coach change means they could miss even making the Cup and maybe there is a chance to at least qualify with Low in place?

Otherwise I can’t figure this out.
They made a coaching change already. Hansi FLick is taking over after Euros. Low's last World Cup qualifying game was the North Macedonia loss. Good riddance. Hansi takes over for World Cup qualifying when it resumes in September. Can't come too soon for me.

Hansi Flick will become coach immediately following this tournament. Deal signed.
Would that make for a very seamless transition? Normally you get about a year after Euro until you really get into qualifying. This year it’s one to the next. That’s my only concern.

I in no way promote Low….he’s been toast. But since they didn’t shit can him in 2018-19 I’m just trying to guess what’s going on with the powers of German football.

Oh that’s what was meant by deal is already signed. Then what the fuck is Low doing on the sideline today? Ha.

Ollie Bierhoff has the DFB in the palm of his hand, and has been the Löw enabler. Flick was Löw’s assistant when they won the 2014 WC. The DFB is praying things turn around.

@MrFlyingV is a big fan of Bierhoff’s …jk

Ever since Miro Klose retired, Germany has lacked the clinical finisher needed. They can churn out midfielders, but not a finisher. Werner just doesn’t have it. He didn’t even start today.

I thought it was cool that they had Muller today. I wish he could play his game forever. But, his game is fading a lot….and what use do you have for an amazing creator when no one could finish.

I swear they felt like a classical US team (who maybe can possess just a little better). No creativity on the front end, no one that can finish clinically.

Germany sure is loyal not canning Löw after the 2018 WC disaster.
True. 4 years of shit. They are already in trouble in WC Qualifing with Low with that North Macedonia.

Correct but hopefully soon Lukas Nmecha might be a true number #9 for them. Scored winning goal in final of Euro under 21, had 18 goals for Anderlecht on loan from Man City and a few more in International play. I think he 22. Stole him from England like Musiala. But he is a true number 9 and none for Germany since Klose.

Germany looks just like a Low coached team. Ineffective offense and defensive blunders. Hummels and Muller sure aren't earning their callups. A lot of passing and possession but the final pass not good. Bayern players come to Germany and again don't look great: Muller, Gnabry, Kimmich. Neither does Havertz or Gundogan. Ugh. This is what I expected with Low. Lose to France, and then Portugal and hopefully they can beat Hungary by enough to secure a 3rd place finish good enough to move on. Shitty German football since 2018 continues.
Curious on your opinion on a theory I have about Germany. Besides all that you've mentioned, it seems very apparent that they are really lacking the leadership of a Lahm or Schweinsteiger on the field.

You might be correct. Neuer is definitely a decent leader in my opinion but is a gk. Müller is back so he can provide some leadership. Löw relied on Kroos to be a leader all of these years, but he seems to not be up for that job.

Edit:

Joshua Kimmich is the future captain of Die Mannschaft when Neuer hangs it up.

The loss to North Macedonia was a new low point, and I didn’t think that was possible after the 2018 WC.

I like what Müller said about Musiala choosing Germany. Something along the lines of, 'of course he made the right choice, he has German blood and no English blood' lol.

Or taking free kicks, if we go by today.

Yeah, he might as well have let Müller have the looks today. I'll always remember this one, though:

I do remember when he could hit them. But that seems long gone watching him today.

Bingo!!! You nailed it!! That is what Schweinsteger, Matheos, and other vets have said. Bringing Muller and Hummels back was supposed to rectify that but those two were one the worst on the field today. Mbappe ate Hummels up and chewed him out.

That was a good one I remember but for not when he was involved at end of next game against South Korea when the butchered the game late and fell out of GRoup stage. Sane free kick late was pathetic too. Just like at Bayern way over the bar.

Yes but a number #9 like Klose is most vital piece. Muller, Werner, Havertz are all pathetic at that job so far.

Just where my thoughts are going. This is the first I’ve watched them in 2 years.

They can still possess, but they can’t put a finish on any damn thing. France seems wholly content to sit back and wall out to try to take 1-0. If Germany’s attack has no teeth why bother trying to bash for a second goal?

Of course as I say this Mbappe gets free and only gets stopped by the flag. Beautiful dancing and poke from him.
I really wish John Henry would throw half the LFC stake on Mbappe
