You’re right. My post was coming back to haunt me. They moved the formation with the injury sub and came back to life.

Little sloppiness from England. If they keep that up I totally see Ukraine leveling it.

What both teams look like after the 70th minute will be very telling. Sub strategy could be huge late in this game.
 
What a delivery on that free kick….perfect. If I could get up as high as Harry Maguire I could have sunk that too. It was that good.

Well….I didn’t miss the fourth goal. Wow.
 
I’ll say one possible weakness I see in the English team….as of this moment they have not surrendered a goal. They seem intent on trying to hold that today. To the point where I think Pickford is a little out of form late in this game.

Giving up a goal in the next 1-2 games could be a crush on them. More than it should be. I would hate to see the D/goalie give one up going forward and lose all form. Better if they just give one up here today and break that seal perhaps.
 
I’ll say this about Ukraine…on a different path I could see them making the quarters. That path would obviously not have Sweden running them through extra time and England up next.

They could play a solid, balanced game when at their top form.

None the less….they ran into a buzz saw today.

Wow England looked great in second half. Kane could have had a hat trick with that volley if not for the fantastic save.

Ukraine did not lose a single game in Euro Qualifiying...but that was two years ago. Not the same team. Them winning their group was one reason for the Group of Death.

His leadership back there is a plus. I feel like he’s got a level enough head. Just need to manage his goalie to calm down. He got a little too loose out there in the second after a minor gaffe. Goalies HAVE to have short memories.

That was a damn good volley, and a tremendous save. It did help that the lane was so wide. No defenders in there pirouetting to hurt his view.

That for sure would have been the hat trick. Kane is alive now!

Went back to the highlights and saw that third goal. What excellent service the English team was providing today.

I know nothing more about the Danes that their player almost died and they’ve been on a run since. I’ll take the English on knowing what they can do…and the home cooking coming to them. Wembley will be insane, double so if they make the final.

I’ll take Italy in the other, which likely means Spain might just do it. I’ve been bashing Spain’s decline all tournament and here they are in the semi final.

Deciding….and doing. They are still on track for doing. I just noticed a bit in the second half the goalie started to get a little loose and spastic after a small error. He calmed it back down, which is good, but it got me thinking.

If they can do it all the way great. If not just get it all back together and keep pushing. It’s just one of those things you see in sports sometimes where it feels small and trivial, and then half the team gets lost from playing their game.
 
Spain dominating possession but can't finish. This looks like a 0-0 after 90 minutes extra time game to me right now. Maybe Morata or Moreno should have been started though. Oyarzabal messed up his two opportunities. Moreno and his 30 goals might be a better option.

This is pretty much what I thought so far. Spain can control (I wish our US Men’s team could control the ball half this effectively) but can’t create much, and finishes none.

Italy stayed with it and found the breakthrough. Now the question is if Spain can finish just one play and out it to extras.
