I'm sure I missed one or two, but the gist is -- if you can't sign elite recruiting classes. You aren't going to be elite regardless of who you have as coach.

And I'm not sure what you proved with the recruiting? 2 of your top 3 classes over the last 25 years were before you got to the B1G, including one where you had the 8th ranked class in the country, which is BY FAR, the best class you signed.

Newsflash -- Michigan won't be elite either because we cannot and will not ever be able to recruit like the elite programs. While we have some elite in state talent, it isn't anything like the talent rich states. When we do have it, we have two D1 programs fighting for them, on top of out of state programs. Nebraska literally has no in state talent.

In today's college football -- Nebraska has no shot to be elite again. It is all about recruiting. It is why team's spend millions recruiting.

With all the advanced coaching, advanced football camps, strength and conditioning coaches, etc. at the high school level now -- recruits are more prepared and closer than ever to their ceiling. So the days of relying on unranked and 2/3 star guys all over the field who turn into stars, is long gone. If you aren't signing the elite talent -- you aren't winning a national title. It is why it is the same handful of teams every year.
