TV Series Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon

What were the plot changes?

Pretty much everything in this episode except Larys sneaking Aegon out of King's Landing was invented for the TV series:

- Aemond never burns down Sharp Point in the book.

- Otto, not Tyland, negotiated with the Triarchy in the book. The scenes with Lohar never happen in the book, with either Tyland or Otto.

- Rhaena never claims Sheepstealer in the book.

- Corlys never renames his ship Sea Snake to The Queen Who Never Was in the book.

- Alfred never tries to convince Daemon to coup Rhaenyra in the book. Alys never leads Daemon to a weirwood tree in the book. Daemon never has a vision of Daenerys or white walkers or Helaena in the book. Since Daemon isn't considering couping Rhaenyra in the book, she never has to go check up on him.

- Aemond never threatens Helaena to try to get her to come to battle with him in the book. Aemond didn't try to kill Aegon in the book, so there's never any conversation about that either.

- Since Criston never slept with Alicent in the book, Gwayne never confronts Criston about it.

- Otto is not a prisoner outside King's Landing in the book.

- Rhaenyra never has any moral qualms or hesitation in unleashing dragons or burning armies or settlements in the book. In the book, she is all BURN, BURN, BURN!

- Alicent never secretly meets with Rhaenyra or betrays the Greens in the book.

By this time in the book, we've had bloody battle after bloody battle instead of this absurd (in the TV show, these bases have no security, apparently) repeated sneaking into each other's bases to try to make peace.

Season 2 was purely setup for season 3

At least we had episode 4

This is God's honest truth. Makes me fearful they'll try to squeeze all of the rest in season 3 & end it there.
And all we have to do is just wait two more years.....

HotD is the Bruno Caboclo of the NBA draft.

Pretty sure thr plan was for just 3 seasons.
Then it's gonna be crammed, unless they do about 16 episodes. WAY to much to get to......

Aegon III/Aegon the Younger's coronation, which is, essentially, where the Dance ends.

I couldn't get through season 1 ... even this year. I'm gald I sat out season this series.

You're missing out. It's quite good. People are just complaining, myself included, because the bar is so high.
I don't even think it's because the bar is set high...this season just felt like a lot of physical conflict...or really all the much interesting happenings. It just felt like it was all setting up for an episode that never happened.

That's a good way to look at it. This series just hasn't been for me. I tried getting back into it and just can't get through all of the drama. It has been more a history lesson than a fun or entertaining adventure.

End it in 3? You should fear the opposite. The pace they're going, its as if they're gonna stretch it out to 5 or more (original pla plan was 3 to 4). At this rate, I won't be surprised if all of next season is just building up to God's Eye which will be the season finale.

I haven't seen it yet, but weren't people saying episode 7 was great?
Well, I believe we thought Ep. 7 was setting the chess pieces up and the finale would be full of action. The payoff for the investment made in watching Ep. 7.

Instead, it was more exposition and setting up even more pieces.
And another scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra, who must have the worst guard service in all the lands.....

I am glad Winds of Winter will be coming out so it will quench my thirst for some real GoT shit!

Announced to end at 4 thankfully
