I started to look into the FIre Sticks.. does it really matter if it's not 4k? The TVs i have that would need them are older 2k versions.. my expensive 8k TV already has all the apps loaded for me to use

They don’t need to but the more expensive ones have better hardware in them and run faster. So that’s something to consider.
