I am just going to respond this last time. We aren't ever going to agree and this has been going on the Internet since the game was over.
In the spirit of why targeting was created, it was targeting. - In that they reversed it, that simply isn't true. They bend over backwards to call targeting. They reversed it. Unless you are saying they cheated for UGA the presumption is it wasn't targeting. You then look at the video, no targeting. Legit, tough hit. Finally ... and make sure you read this ... your own WR who got knocked out of the game said it wasn't targeting. Maybe you should take a deep breath, understand that it is upsetting (been there, done that for 41 years) and realize maybe everyone else is right.
Head lowered? Check. - heads never touched or if it did was incidental, didn't lead with his head, didn't hit with the crown of his helmet.
Defenseless receiver? Check - agreed, but the rest is not there. You can hit defenseless players, just not in certain ways.
Launching upwards towards head/neck area? Check. - you are seeing things if you think he launched, or you don't know what launched means. Both his feet were on the ground when he hit him. And he hit him square shoulder to shoulder, not the head or neck area. I mean look at the videos I posted.
It was a dirty hit that did what it was intended, and that is knock Harrison out of the game. - ok, that's just absurd. That's conspiracy bullshit. It was a competitive game where this was a key play with our player acting naturally as he would react. The idea that we would intentionally do this is bullshit and you don't look good saying that
In the 3rd quarter, Stroud had 84 yards compared to 29 yards in the 4th. Nowhere near the same. You've also got to be kidding me about comparing a 2nd string TE to arguably the top WR in college football. I'm guessing you also don't know how important Stover was to our team this year as our 1st string TE by what you're saying. - Here are the trends for Stroud ... we obviously adjusted in the second half. Compare Q3 to Q2. Teams adjust and we did. It wasn't just Harrison going out that slowed Stroud down. So, how you do account for that?
As for the TE, he's TE1b, not second-string TE, and he's a first or second-rounder. You don't understand our O if you don't think he was a key, no, a primary key to the way we run our O. Period. I know my team. You don't have to be a WR to have an impact on a game. In fact, a TE who does a ton of blocking and receiving can have the same effect. You suddenly didn't have to account for a 270-pound, 6'7 TE. Not saying he's Gronk, but if Gronk went out in a game, NE's O had to adjust. And, you bring up Stover, so you totally should get how important they can be. We run 12 formation 67% of the time ... Washington is in as much as Bowers is, if not more.
