Last movie you watched and rating (1-10)

Not my brand of movies........first one is a chick flick and the 2nd one was just bad........
But hey,if you wanna see young men running around in beach wear with no shirts, lockerroom wearing towels,Tom C machoism movie made for women, you have right at it.....

2nd one was just plane boring(all pun intended).....and as the moment Gooses son was in the movie, you knew damn good and well what the ending was coming down to.......take it or leave it.....dont care.
The original had the volleyball scene, which is the only scene that is remembered, apparently, by people who don’t like “those” movies.

It was a great movie for the time. I will grant it hasn’t aged particularly well, but that is only because it was so groundbreaking in the practical effects and sound that it was bound to be passed by future movies that would end up upping their games just to keep up.

I will rewatch the second one (for my first watch since I saw it in the theaters) sometime this week probably.

Moonfall

Halle berry looks good for an old broad but she must've needed the money. I see why Hollywood chooses to make so many remakes when this is the best new stuff they can muster. I'm guessing this was a summer movie. More effects less plot.

Since my viewing has evolved with TV/Video technology I have had a few standards for must see viewing as my TV/System improves both pictures and sounds. I always watched Top Gun as my gauge.

Original Top Gun is likely at it's peak when it is Bluray or whatever they do to it to fake an HDR. From the original stereo on VHS the sound improved but was never the true surround at home anyway that you can get easily with newer movies. Still it was my bell weather for a long time (Aliens as well) and I will still watch it if I surft through it on a HD channel for the sounds. Love pissing the missus upstairs off.

Maverick left me wanting. Cool stuff, HDR, 4K, Dolby Atmos and my TV is very large (85"), etc. Still left me wanting more. I'll re-watch it later and give it a 2nd chance.

Glass Onion (Knives Out 2)
Netflix
2
Another tedious plot centric movie where the plot is laid out in flashbacks. Audience is left to endure instead of enjoy what the movie is providing us as the plot elements.
The detective even says that everything is dumb. It is. Even the final comeuppance for the antagonist is when the witnesses just decide to turn on him… like a bad sci episode. I was going to say it was like a bad Star Wars movie… then I saw that it was written and directed by Ruan Johnson. LOL.

Characters just jump to conclusions. Characters act stupidly just for drama sake. Ugh. No one Can wrote anymore.

Read quickly through the thread and saw no mention of The Green Mile.

Nearly as good as Shawshank, I think.

Lots of good Stephen King adaptations...
Carrie
The Shining
It
The Dead Zone
Misery
Pet Sematary

Black Adam

Maybe it was because I went in expecting the worst, but it wasn't that bad. Had a bad feeling when the first 4 minutes are narrated backstory instead of actually acting it out. But it was cheesy and poorly written, but enjoyable. And if you like super hero movies and can watch it for free, worth the time.

Top Gun: Maverick.......

Ya I know, cant believe I watched this after just watching the 1st one wiith me giving a rating of D.......but it is defenitley worse than the 1st,not even worth a watch......it totally sucked.....but the wife wanted to see it.......so theres that.

It's a feel good movie. I liked it. The F-18s were cool. But I was hoping Maverick would go after the cute teenage daughter.

The First Purge (2018)
9/10

Rented on Amazon for $3.99. How it all got started. NFFA president Bracken orders a Purge night experiment to take place on Staten Island in order to rid the city of overpopulation and crime. This film focuses on the black areas where drug lords are in control. $5,000 is offered to those who participate in the purge. For tracking the action, purgers are given video contact lenses. Purge control administrators are able to view live action, employ killer drones, and feed it to the news.

As the night proceeds, participation at first appears to be low so the admin guys order mercenaries, mostly whites, some in KKK costumes, to ensure the death toll pleases the NFFA. The whole mess turns into a race war where the drug lords and blacks kill off the attacking purgers in an apartment building where they have been killing all the tenants floor by floor. At the end, NFFA President Bracken calls this first purge a success and promises more.

Halloween Ends (2022)

Wow, uhh……okay. Not sure wtf that was or wtf the writers and directors were thinking. A ‘Halloween’ movie with very little, if any, Michael Myers.

And why is the new guy even there?

Seriously wtf.

3/10

Hell's Angels - 1930 - directed by Howard Hughes. A WW 1 movie.

Pretty damn cool for 1930.

And it is pre-censorship and features a 19 year old Jean Harlow.

Yeah the first one of this new trilogy was pretty decent, but these last 2 were terrible. The 2nd one at least had some badass moments, but was still a terrible movie.

Yep, I watched it 2 weeks ago and while I wasn't expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps that was because my expectations were low. It was decent entertainment as super hero movies go.

do you have your TV calibrated for Tom Cruise?

also, 85 seems extremely large. like probably too big (shit I see they sell them for under a grand now even).

Yeah, I could watch Halloween 2018 over and over. Well, kinda. The second one was pretty bad especially with the riot hospital scene. The third one I watched on Peacock. I am a Halloween fan and looked forward to this one. I did a lot of youtube watching to see what it was gonna be about before it was released. I tried to make myself watch it again before the 60 days was up. I couldn't. If they wanted to keep a similar plot with the new kid, I could see them writing it to where the new kid was trying to copy Michael, and the killing happens, but you don't know who it is doing the killing each time. Then, at the end Michael kills the dude, and the fight with Laurie ensues. But the piece of crap we were given was downright awful.

The banshees of inisherin

Decent acting but kind of a boring movie. An allegory on the Irish Civil War. One day a man wakes up and decides he doesn't want to be friends with his dim neighbor anymore. Rewatch in Bruges instead....

The Outfit.

Very good movie about a cutter/tailor set in the 1950's whose shop is used for Mafia business. It's a thriller with twists and turns led by Mark Rylance. Everyone does a good job acting in this. The movie is constantly progressing which helps as the entire movie takes place inside this shop, so it can feel slow at times, but it really isn't.

Good stuff.

8/10

Just saw this too. A bit on the dark side. Kind of didn't understand the point of it all at the end. All that trouble for nothing it seemed.
