Matt Olson inside the park homer

Well at least now there is a spot for old man Hobbs, eh Pop? :noidea:

But if an outfielder is on the ground injured, incapacitated and writhing in pain, IMO, you should just give the batter a double.
Old chewy would have called the outfielder a pussy and said to rub some dirt on it as the batter gets his home run.

New chewy wants participation doubles.

Fatherhood has made him soft. You hate to see it. Next thing you know he’ll be letting his daughter give him a makeover

I just don’t think any ball hit under 450 feet should count as a homer
*if due to injury

But if a speedster hits a line drive that some knob takes a poor angle on and it rattles around the outfield, count that inside the park HR.

That lets the pitcher off the hook. I give a single or a double and then an error.
That’s fair too. But I stand by my earlier statement that the rare plays like the ball bouncing off Canseco’s head and going over the wall should be 4 base errors. If it bounces off his head and stays in play, it’s ruled an error all day

The head was just hilarious but that's happened agains since then. Then the ball hitting a glove and going over, but clearly wasn't going over before hand happens a couple of times a season in both college and MLB. I'd give those two base errors too.

On the flipside, Callihan fucked up his left arm. His right arm - throwing arm - still worked. Get that ball in, THEN roll around the ground in pain. If he would've fucked up his right arm, you throw it in as best as you can with your left before worrying about your own well-being. ...At least, that's how I was brought up to play.

First thing I thought of when watching the clip, at least toss the ball to the centerfielder, or something.
Yeah bro, get up and make the play!

this isn't the NFL
If you don't know baseball it's ok to just say so, you don't have to put stupid posts out like this.

show me where a player has been fined in MLB for anything like that

Olson wouldn't get fined because he stopped running the bases.

his manager might bench him for being an idiot, but no one is fining him.

Kangaroo court is a big deal in baseball, I'm sorry you don't know that. Yes, if you stop running because someone is hurt you are going to get fined in the clubhouse.

show me where that has ever happened in MLB

because you are talking out your ass, dude.

You want me to show you where a player was fined because he stopped playing? Can't do that. But I can tell you how the system does exist in MLB and MiLB for situations exactly like that.

"The term is sometimes used without any negative connotation. For example, many Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball teams have a kangaroo court to punish players for errors on the field, being late for a game or practice, not wearing proper attire to road games, or having a messy locker in the clubhouse. Fines are allotted, and at the end of the year, the money collected is given to charity or used for a team party at the end of the season.[14]

A notable example includes in 2008, Mariano Rivera, then closer for the New York Yankees, was fined by his teammates after Rivera assisted division rival Roy Halladay in developing Halladay's cut fastball, Rivera's signature pitch."

Another, my sons pitching coach played in the majors. When he was with the Mets in a game he took off his glove and threw it at a linedrive that was going over his head. His glove actually hit the ball, which gave the runner I believe another base. I asked him about that play and he got pretty pissed off. Some teammates were waiting for him in the hotel lobby after the game and told him they were fining him $10k for that play.

Again, if you don't know baseball then when you come here shut up and learn.

edit: He was with the dodgers at the time, my mistake.
