MLB may have a deal in place.......

Alright, MLB finally has a new deal,

For real, you’re a major league player and they’re giving you a half of a field sized hole to hit at. Deal with it, make them stop doing it.
Tony Gwynn would've batted about .650 or better if they shifted like that back then.

I’m not a fan of shifts. But banning them is stupid. But I am happy that a routing grounder to short won’t be a single anymore

Sounds like a lot of progress was made last night. Several people reporting they feel good about a deal being made today. But this isn’t the first time

This is exactly me. Frankly, the only idea I was open to was limits on how many can be in the outfield.

An infield or complete infield/outfield shift never pissed me off than the batter who can’t hit out of it (I’m looking at you, Ryan Howard).

The game has always been about “hit it where they ain’t”. A guy is getting a kings ransom to play a fun game and can’t figure out how to at least snap a bunt down a line where they ain’t?

I'm not sure that shifts will be banned to that extent. I have actually seen what the rules would be. But I'm assuming you'll still have infielders shifted much like before. With the shortstop or second baseman directly behind the bag. Essentially putting three guys on one side of the infield. And still having gaping holes around the infield.

I haven’t followed this at all and I’d prefer to do as little work as possible to figure it out, so is there some specific things that are known that are holding it up?
Owners want to keep the luxury tax threshold relatively low and continue to pay the young guys pittances. Union wants less service time manipulation and a luxury tax that's higher and in line with the additional revenue that MLB keeps reporting.

this pop up came on phones yesterday..

A million per year is a pittance in your opinion. The average man or woman in this country make $52,000 per year.

$700K is a good amount of money, but the league games the fuck out of the system and depresses salaries on the low end. No other pro league gives six years of team control to all rookies.

The cheap owners who are pocketing CBT money are 100% not competing and not trying to compete by just paying guys at the low end of the scale and shoveling money into their pocket. Fuck them.

Do I think that the players are asking for too much? Possibly, but they're also at least negotiating. Owners locked the players out, tried to declare an impasse before they even started seriously bargaining, and are already walking back the claims that they won't play 162 games this year.
