Muscle cars that turn you on

The 1967 Ford Mustang GT fastback - if there is a bone-in ribeye steak of muscle cars, this is it.

The mesh in the front grill will tell you the difference.
The 1971's were pushed forward and the 1972's were pushed back.

Yeah, can't remember. The last few times I saw the GTO, I only saw the tail as it was parked in his garage and it's been a couple years since I've seen him. He moved to NC after retirement and we haven't had an opportunity to visit him since.

All right, I'll be the one who posts an AMX:

My dad LOVED AMC's for some reason.

I always like the Firebirds more than the Camaros. Chevies seemed just a little more bland than the Pontiacs and Buicks

This one's clearly been chopped, but another mini-muscle car my dad loved was the Maverick

The fastest Low Compression muscle car ever produced.
One of the fastest to come out of Detroit period.

My first car was supposed to be a Maverick Grabber....but I missed out on the sale and someone got it before I could.

So I ended up buying a Pinto, that didn't run, was a rust bucket and had a 4 cylinder motor.

But I dropped a little V8 in her and painted the car in my Dad's Hot Rod shop...

I had an uncle who raced dirt tracks. He once put a 302 in a pinto and ran in the Hobby division

I looked fooooooorrrrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeerrrrrsssssss for 67/68/69 Rag top Bird, very hard to find at a price that wont knock your socks off and leave you in divorce courts....

Settled on the 67 with the Landau top. Still got the 400, 4 speed with a lot of other upgrades, save AC. (Still a California sale, so even for 1967, it has a lot of Smog equipment believe it or not, don't need it so it's still equipped only for looks)

This year the plan is to finally get the paint right, and possibly install Disc Brakes and EFI.

I almost bought one of these when I was about 20, but figured RWD with that much HP with no anti-lock brakes wouldn't be the best for Wisconsin winter driving.
They didn't handle that well even on regular roads. My dad had a couple of Hornets and I drove one for a season before I bought my first car. Thing was noisy, a lot of play in the wheel, lousy shocks. Admittedly, it was cannibalized from at least two other cars.
