1. I don't blame Wisconsin at all. This is 1000000% the fault of the conference.

2. Someone help me here, if one player has two positive tests they have to sit for 21 days. If 7% of the team tests positive, it is considered an outbreak and high risk and thus have to shutdown. Is that accurate? If so, since Wisconsin has had 12 people test positive, with more likely to come, then shouldn't the entire team be shutdown for 21 days? Not saying I want that at all, I am curious of what the hell the B1G is doing/saying. I am reading/hearing talk about the Wisconsin/Purdue game... but if they are over that threshold then won't they have to cancel that game as well as the Michigan game and possibly the Northwestern game depending on results?
I fully blame the cheeseheads

I don’t see how they play Purdue with limited practice and prep time and possibly NW w/COVID19 but they should be a go for Michigan.

Poor fucking Illinois and their next 2 opponents Purdue and Minny.

Wisconsin could have a converted kicker at QB and they'd still beat Nebraska. They've beaten Nebraska by the same formula for 7 years now. Just hand it off and run it up the middle.

Don’t you have to go burn Portland or something?

???

Michigan is between Purdue and Northwestern according to google. Or are you saying that NW is having Covid issues as well? I haven't heard that yet if so.

The way I understand it, the player testing positive has to shut down for 21 days except the last week can do cardio work. The staff that tests positive have to shut down 10 days. Since Chryst tested positive, he is down until next Friday. Wisconsin shut down all activities for 7 days on their own. Non-positive players and staff are good to go as far as the conference is concerned unless they go over some threshhold that I'm not sure of.

I wasn't saying it to be an ass -- but isn't removing a game from Nebraska's schedule, which they'd most likely lose, be exactly what Scott Frost wants?

Maybe not Frost, but I know the AD of Nebraska has to be happy, with as much bitching and moaning he did about the schedule.

No, the percentages trigger entire team based things to be shut down. The individuals have to sit out 21 days but the 7% deal triggers a whole team shutdown of team activities for a week. After that, assuming the numbers improve enought to start up, the healthy players can continue on after the 7 day shutdown.

So Wisconsin is shut down for a week. If their numbers improve below 7% then they can start back up next week again.

That was essentially what I was asking. What is the threshold exactly? Does it include the staff in that number (though giving the different timeframes for sitting out, I would think not)? And if that is reached, wouldn't the whole team have to sit out 21 days then?

If the answer to the last question is a yes, then isn't it rather apparent that there was never any intention of playing in the first place? I mean the CDC doesn't even recommend what the B1G is doing and if that threshold is met even once you lose out on almost half the season and ANY chance to play in the B1G CCG as a minimum of 6 games are needed to qualify.

All this on top of having known since fucking March and having no plan, no action, no response, rarely any questions answered.... I mean how in the fuck is this viewed as acceptable to anyone? I don't like calling for people's jobs, but this is a travesty and has turned into a joke. Warren deserves to be fired in my opinon.

I remember when the B1G released their initial schedule prior to the shutdown to starting on time. People were talking about how good and smart it was designed, that it not only allowed for bye weeks, but also allowed for I believe at least 2 weeks of makeup games. This demonstrates that the B1G anticipated games getting postponed (like seen in other conferences). Instead, the conference announces a return, but schedules that return a month down the line with literally no chance of making up games.

Idk man, to me this is the most deserving thing of a firing that I have seen is a long time.

Frost did the same thing. That is why I'd think Nebraska fans would be happy removing a game they most likely would have lost from the schedule.
If it were a bottom dweller that had to cancel against Nebraska, I could u see stand why they'd be mad

If we fired everyone whose response to COVID was wrong, nobody would have a job.

"Games will be canceled if one team or both teams have both a test positivity rate (number of positive tests divided by total number of tests administered) of at least 5 percent and a population positivity rate (number of positive individuals divided by total population at risk) of at least 7.5 percent."

To my knowledge, Wisconsin CHOSE to do this, this is not a requirement from the conference per the guidelines.

And even if everything you said is true, do you not see the irony in that? One player tests positive they are out 21 days, but if 7% of the team tests positive then the whole team shuts down for only one week???? None of that makes sense. If after a week, the healthy players are good to return and the sick players are still forced to sit the remaining 14 days... then what is the point of shutting the entire team down in the first place if they are doing daily testing multiple times?

The one week shutdown is to stop spread, so they don't end up with half the team out for 3 weeks

They're trying to prevent the spread. As this illustrates, testing only does so much. So they're trying to prevent infected players from playing and infecting other players if a huge outbreak happens within a program. It sounds like Wisconsin figured the Nebraska game was canceled anyway, might as well try and save the next game against Purdue. A shutdown before it hits the mandatory one, hopefully prevents it.
