NL Central Talk

Hating the Cardinals as I do has been a blessing throughout my life of loving baseball because in addition to being a fan of the Pad Squad, I have been a legit fan of every team in the NL Central outside of St. Louis. Back when I was still watching baseball religiously, my son and I would watch literally hundreds of games a year and it 90% NL Central and 10% NL West. (we do not watch bastard baseball, therefore never watched regular season AL "baseball")
My bookie gave me 120 dollars in free bets since I’ve sent like 5 betters his way. If the Cardinals win the World Series this year, I might just retire at 32 and go full blown degenerate

How would this differ from your current lifestyle and, a followup question if might, have you ever considered buying a internet sports message board as a hobby?

Haha, please don't sell this site to a goat fucking coke head.

Well, I could be playing the high roller midweek PLO games where winning or losing 50k is nothing instead of being happy winning 5k on a Saturday night playing hold em.

I could jet set to Vegas for blackjack instead of driving 45 minutes to that shitty casino in Murphy, NC.

But, no, I’m terrible with computers and would run any site into the ground with my incompetence

Well, ain't that a kick in the head.

8 in a row for the Cubs is nice but having 2 of those wins against the dicks on the south side and 6 of those against the cards is fuckin priceless. Go Cubs Go

Losing 5 of 6 against the Braves is a strong indication of where the Brewers are not. The Brewers winning 5 of 6 against the Reds is also a strong indication of where the Reds are not.

Ultimately, no one in the NL Central has the right to talk shit. We all suck.

No question the Braves are the Class of the NL this year but I ain't giving up just yet.

The schedules are balanced, and if they’re ahead of y’all despite y’all dominating them head to head, that’s not a good sign, especially now that there’s fewer in division matchups.

It’s like the 2018 Brewers and Cubs. Brewers were clearly the better team, but the Cubs dominated the Brewers head to head. Brewers eventually won out in game 163 to take the division.

Reds have a better run differential.

I think the Cubs eventually overtake both, but I’d bet on the Reds to finish ahead of the Brewers. Reds offense is much scarier and the Brewers pitching isn’t as good as it used to be

Nor should you. As things stand right now, I’d pick the Brewers to finish third, but there’s plenty of baseball left to prove me wrong

Are you factoring injured players in your analysis? Yes, pitching has been a bit down, but the Brewers have also dealt with several key injuries to the pitching staff. The Brewers are on the cusp of getting Woodruff, Miley and Ashby back - which should significantly benefit the rotation and pen. Rowdy Tellez and Brian Anderson should also be back in the lineup soon, too - which will help improve the lineup depth and allow Counsell to play hot hands better.

I'm not as in tune with the Reds and Cubs lineups as I am the Brewers, but it seems to me both clubs have been closer to full strength than the Brewers have been over the past couple months and the Brewers were still leading the division until they got swept on the road by the best team in baseball. I don't necessarily thoroughly refute your prediction that the Brewers will finish 3rd in the division because the bats kinda suck and you need to score runs to win games; but pitching can carry teams to wins, too, and barring injuries & recovery setbacks the Brewers will be poised to have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball again when they get healthy.

The Reds top two starting pitchers have both been out for a while and are set to return.

You can add role players like Anderson and Tellez until the cows come home, and that’s not gonna make the lineup any scarier.

The Cubs have been underperforming their run differential all season and now they finally got rolling, and their lineup is better than the Brewers, and their pitching isn’t bad either.

Brewers are better coached and more experienced, that might help them down the stretch run since they’re used to playoff race pressure, but just based on rosters, I’d pick the Cubs to win the division and the Reds to finish second.

It didn’t look like it for a while, but it looks like the central can get a wild card spot too now
