The Choak at Doak is still one of the most ridiculous games of all time 31 - 3 in the 4th qtr...still lost. Bowden was da debbil.

Wow. A "Game of the Year", this was not.

It was a solid effort by the Suckeyes to gift-wrap this one and give it away. But, god damn, PSU was just too determined to lose. Suckeyes' O fumbled it away twice inside the PSU 10, one of which was at the GL and was almost a 99-yd scoop & score. But the 3 ints from PSU's QB were too much. There were 2 different plays where he almost threw a 4th pick btw.

Surprisingly, the Suckeyes in a road game vs a team like Cincinnati. Looked like about 70% were Bearcat fans at kickoff.

Lmao holy shit talk about a fucking choke. :pound:

Against a traditional power, these upstart/"lesser" teams just love to find ways to completely blow it at the very end, don't they. :burt:

That was Ohio State's first game in Cincinnati since the early 1900s. So, it was a big deal for Ohio State. Interestingly, about ten years later, the Buckeyes came back for their Spring Game, which I attended too!

The Queen City is different than the rest of the state, as OSU is just another team with UC, Miami (OH), Indiana and Kentucky all having a decent presence in the city. Not to mention the BENGALS.

As for the 2002 game, the tickets were part of the UC season ticket package, but the Buckeyes received a nice share, and the rest were sold as individual tickets.

It was a glorious Autumn day: warm, sunny, breezy. It was also Oktoberfest Weekend in Cincinnati (largest Oktoberfest in the world outside of Germany), and the Reds had a home series at G.A.B.P.

The OSU @ UC game is still the largest crowd to ever see a game @ Paul Brown Stadium. I lived in Cincinnati for 17 years, and that was my favorite sporting day in the bUCkeye state.

And it was a GREAT game! The Bearcats had 4 shots at the end-zone from about the 20 yard-line and almost pulled off the Upset. Go figure, the Buckeyes would go and win their first National Championship since 1968!

Wow. Krenzel's legs (and his balance/coordination) probably saved the day for the Poisonous Nuts. Probably saved their season too.

That conv. on 3rd & 9 at the UIL 25 yd midway through the 4th qtr (w/ his team leading by 3) was really something else.

Then a missed FG, UIL makes a FG to tie it up, and then OT. Amazing that the Poisonous Nuts held on.

The Buckeyes mostly got outplayed in the 1st half and were lucky to only be down 9-7.

3rd qtr, same story. A Krenzel incompletion that should've been picked. A punt from the 50 ends up a touchback instead of pinning them deep. Ohio St's offense not doing didley; UM offense moving the ball well in spots but can't finish drives.

Buckeyes gifted good FS on a UM penalty, score to take the lead. UM offense had two chances to win it at the end, both ended in buckeye territory with no points.
