Only 15 FBS schools don't play an FCS team in 2022

If USC played Rice 100 times do they lose any more than if they played Northern Arizona? A Vanilla cupcake and a Rocky Road cupcake with marshmallow and salted caramel icing are still both cupcakes.

I give 'em credit for playing USC every year...but honestly when you play in a conference that has 5 OOC ranked wins in the last 5 years including bowl games you have to do what you have to do...including leaving.

You're moving the goalposts.

USC has not played a non-major since 1952.

Come 2023 they will be only team who can say that.

The goalposts are where they always were, you are the one pretending Rice is a major...

Notre Dame, USC, and UCLA are currently the ONLY FBS teams to have never played an FCS team in football.

UCLA drops of that list this season on Sept 10th vs Alabama State.
Notre Dame drops off that list in 2023 if they follow through with scheduled Tennessee State.

That will leave USC as the ONLY FBS school to have never played an FCS school in football.
Yeah. But ND won’t because it’s a HBCU and I think Eddie George coaches there so Freeman will support a former Ohio St. guy.

...and Vanderbilt is an SEC team...

It doesn't matter what you personally think of teams.

What matters is how they're officially classified by the NCAA.

Vandy IS an SEC team, and Rice IS an FBS team (mid-major).

FCS IS a non-major.

and a cupcake is a cupcake...regardless of what they are officially classified. Vanderbilt is likely not going to be a quality win...nor is Rice.

No matter how much lipstick you put on the pig...it's still a pig.

There are two stupid arguments that have been made here for years:

1. That somehow the SEC playing cupcakes in week 11 is different from playing 4 straight cupcakes to start the season. You either choose to have the equivalent of a pre-season to get your team ready to play tougher opponents, or you choose to spread your "byes" out throughout the season. Both have pros and cons, but one doesn't make one team better than the other - they are both playing cupcakes to make the overall schedule easier and lessen the likelihood for a loss.

2. The idea that playing an FCS team is somehow bad but playing crappy G5 or even P5 teams is not equally bad. At least playing FCS teams you know you are propping up their athletic department. But scheduling Rice, Vandy, UConn, UMass, Duke or the like and then thumping your chest because you don't play FCS or G5 teams is stupid. As you stated ... a cupcake is a cupcake.

3. I'll add a third - the idea that the SEC wouldn't be so good if only they had to go north and play games in the snow in November.

GTFO with your defensive BS about Alabama playing FCS teams.

What is the thread title? FBS schools and FCS schools.

What is my first post (#15) regarding? FBS schools and FCS schools.

Your first post was some dumbfuckery about USC playing shitty teams 100 years ago. Even Washington was a non-major back in the day.
From the time I stated I'm referring to modern football you moved the goalposts to your own personal definition.
The NCAA classifies Rice and Vandy as FBS and not FCS.
You define nothing.

Now get the fuck lost and quit wasting people's time.

LOL, you're gatekeeping cupcakes.

GTFO with your nonsense. USC plays just as many cupcakes as anybody else, they just paint them with a veneer of quasi-respectability and asslickers like yourself shove their nose in their crack while giving them a handy for it. Their whole fucking conference is a mid-major that can't even dominate the MWC anymore.

Washington is damn near a non-major now...soon there won't be anybody on their team alive when they last beat a ranked OOC opponent during the regular season.

"From the time I stated I'm referring to modern football"...but I'm the one moving the goalposts, lol.

You keep living in your world of delusion where you redefine things to make yourself feel better.

I'll live in the world where FBS and FCS schools are defined by the NCAA, Sports-Reference.com, and everybody else that refers to the teams in a FBS/FCS manner.

In the last 20 years

Vandy vs Furman (49-18)
Vandy vs Chattanooga (51-6)
Vandy vs Eastern Kentucky (19-7)
Vandy vs Richmond (37-13)
Vandy vs Tennessee St (38-9)
Vandy vs Richmond (41-17)
Vandy vs Western Carolina (45-0)
Vandy vs Elon (45-14)
Vandy vs Presbyterian (58-0)
Vandy vs Austin Peay (38-3)
Vandy vs Charleston Southern (21-20)
Vandy vs Austin Peay (47-7)
Vandy vs Tennessee St (35-17)
Vandy vs Alabama A&M (42-0)
Vandy vs Tennessee St (31-27)
Vandy vs East Tennessee St (38-0)

At times, one of Vandy's only two wins were against FCS schools and even Vandy blew the FCS school out.

2021 Sagarin ratings...Vandy 142, Rice 149, Austin Peay(Alabama's FCS opponent)159...Vandy has more resources than Rice, Rice has more than Austin Peay, but they all live in the same trailer park...Vandy is in the double-wide, Rice is in the fancy Park Model and Austin Peay is in a 1956 Airstream...which sounds cool, but isn't.

Vandy certainly has more talent than either of those teams...but they sure don't play like it. Being a Nebraska fan I'm sure you understand underachieving.

Enjoy your clown world where P5 is always>G5 is always>FCS.

You know you've kicked a poster's last tooth in when they've been reduced to attacking your program.

There's really no point in playing a tough OOC schedule anymore as a P5 school.

If you go undefeated or a good amount of the time with 1 loss winning your conference, you will make the playoff.

Why risk that potential extra loss?

A team like Uconn (They lost to Holy Cross and BARELY beat Yale last year) is probably worse than a good amount of FCS teams. For arguments sakes, the bottom of the FBS isnt necessarily a much "better" opponent.

I think that metric is about to only apply to the B1G and the SEC.
