PAC News

So they find games by accident but at the same time telling recruits there is more exposure on ESPN? if they are on ESPN the people should know because exposure not accident. they are going to be seen on ESPN on purpose no on accident right?
You are just being obtuse at this point.

- ESPN for the most part owns college football. If you think that kids want to be on ION instead of ESPN, not much else for us to discuss. FFS, they own something like 33 of 50 bowl games. And, ESPN and Fox will be carrying the CFP games, not ION.

- Yes, people find ESPN games by pulling up their remotes, click away on the 5 ESPN channels and finding games they wouldn't have necessarily wanted to watch. I really couldn't give a shit about a PAC game. Yet, I've watched a number of late night PAC games because they were own ESPN or FOX. This isn't a hard concept to understand.

are you suggesting there aren't any sports personalities at all on the market who could take this up? first and foremost anyone who is currently working the Pac 12 network.
Yes, I am suggesting that. And, no one outside of the Pacific NW even knows there is a PAC network. But, you know all this. You know the best talent will work at Fox and ESPN because they want to be covering the best games, not SDSU v. Oregon State, at 1am ET.

In terms of a tv product Michigan State pulls in very good ratings for being probably the 5th most marketable team in that conference.
but the question is does USC vs Michigan State sound exciting? honestly to me it doesnt.

so they go to the schools because there is a chance their game gets picked up by ESPN?
I have 3 tvs on at a time and 0 of them are on a game by accident. maybe thats your way of watching games.
i know what games are on that i plan on watching all day. and alternatives if a game becomes a blow out.
i dont know what cable service you have but mine just shows me games that are on. no matter what channel. the ESPN game right next to the CBS game next to the FS1 next to the Big Ten Network game. so if there is a game on Ion its gonna be right there too. shit they even list ESPN+ games.

yes im sure they took those jobs so they could call Iowa State vs Houston and Vandy vs Arkansas and Rutgers vs Indiana.
I would put money on SDSU vs Oregon State being a better game than all those.

Like I said, obtuse. I assume you don't follow recruiting very much. One of the main reasons that recruits pick a school is exposure. This is even more important in the NIL era. Now, we know that all teams get all their games broadcast, but the ones that get the 3:30pm slots on CBS, ESPN, Fox get the most exposure. Shitty teams, and those in the PAC evidently, get shown on ION, or Apple, or ESPN+ even (that's a streaming site FYI). Each SEC teams gets one game on ESPN+ every year, so those are the sucky ones. Surely this makes sense to you, yes?

Dude, I would have to work at finding ION on YouTube TV. I can't believe you are so desperate that you are acting like ION is something good for you. Because I don't give a flying fuck about the PAC, I would never find ION and never watch a game. The idea, if it's not obvious, is to expand your audience, and that won't happen on ION.

Wow, now you are just being delusional. Going to back out of the thread and give you some time on your own to work through it. It's like you don't even understand how college football media works. Well, in that the PAC doesn't either, I guess that makes sense.

If it's 2021 MSU vs. 2022 USC, that's a hell of game. If it's 2022 MSU vs. 2021 USC, it's not great. If both teams are having a good year, that game gets probably 7 millionish viewers. If they are both mediocre, probably looking at about 2.5 million or so.

To me that's much more exciting than USC against whoever would lay claim to being the 5th/6th best brand in the P12

Just for the record calling an Oregon fan delusional is a reiteration.

Kind of depends on the year. Pretty sure usc has had good and bad games with every team.

I dont know much about youtube tv but i know its not the same as cable where it took 2 seconds to find ion on channel 15. Sooner than 32 for espn

I have HULU live and have no idea what Ion is.

So no actual cable but rather a streaming service but people keep saying atreaming wont work.

Hulu TV and YouTube TV provide an identical service as basic cable, but it streams through an app. It has a lot of the same features.

But you keep missing the main point ... it's not whether they have ION or not. They do. It's whether your average fan is going to be watching ESPN or ION for sports. PAC fans will go watch ION. Most other fans won't. A lot of fans will easily go to sports channels - ESPN and FoxSports. They aren't going to go, hey, maybe there is a game on over on ION. You are making this way harder than it needs to be.

LOL, I just googled and found out that ION was just added to YTTV, and HuleTV does not carry ION right now.

I feel like I need to give you more time to process this.
this is exactly what it feels like comparing streaming channels to a cable channel when it comes to live sports.. streaming seems 15-30 seconds behind

it's over
