Playoffs need to extend to at least 8 teams

NO BYES!!!!! Worst thing ever devised in playoffs. Other than that, cool.
I'm personally fine with them but the guy who did this also does 16-team formats

Coastal lost to Liberty in their bowl game. lol

So?

Their resume before the bowls was better than Cincy's. Cincy's best win lost to 3-7 Mississippi State, Coastal handed Louisiana and BYU their only losses of the season. Cincy's best win in Tulsa is on par with Coastal's third best win in Appalachian State. There's a real argument that could be made that the CCU-Liberty game was a matchup of the two best G5 teams. Liberty was about a cunthair away from being undefeated themselves, and they lost by 1 point to a decent ACC team.

Not the same. Both basketball and baseball are very different sports in that you can have elevated talent in a few key spots and have a shot a the upset. Football simply is not like that and you can scheme to negate another team's strengths if they aren't able to strike at other positions.

I can't believe I have to explain this to you.
Come on you drunk bird! As my grandkids frequently tell me....

It still happens. The most famous BCS bow game is either USC vs Texas or BSU vs OU. Upsets happen all the time. I would love to watch a few in the opening round of the playoffs. I am not what about the current bowl season or even playoffs makes you think a change would lower the quality of games we will watch

The only thing we will be creating is a bunch of drama where everyone and their brother is going to lay claim to the BS 8th spot and give both the PAC and Big 12 pretty much automatic bids to the playoff.

Just win your games and earn your spot.

Let's be honest, I don't think UCF or Cincy were good enough to play for it all but they still deserved the shot being unbeaten.

Also teams get up more for playoffs than useless bowl games that don't matter. Emotion is a big part of college football.

You can shit in one hand and get emotional in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.

Tell All-Barn to win a Fucking Bowl Game and then we can talk.

8-team playoff version (note that the guy who designed this graphic made a mistake and screwed up the seeding, as also pointed out in the Twitter comments from which the graphic is sourced: the graphics has text that says the bracket is based on the current CFP standings, meaning Oklahoma should be the 6th seed and playing against Ohio State instead and Cincinnati the 7th seed and playing against Clemson instead):

Step 1 Fire the dumbass that can't win them. Check

Now find yourself a coach that can actually beat Bama before you address me in that tone again.

I don't work for Tennessee... if I did, no way we lose like we did the last 20 years. Too bad people are too fucking stupid to hire me (or at least a talented person) to run the UT program.

I’d like to see it just so it keeps more guys from quitting on their teams. I guess they can still quit but at least they’ll think about it. We keep going down this road of opt outs and it’s going to start really hurting college football

How many games does a team have to win?

Fun Fact. The #4 seed in the playoffs have won more championship than the #1 seeds
The seeding is not relevant, it's just a nod to the season you had. Alabama won it as the #4 seed and were the odds favorite for both games.

In the Big 12 just plan on having to win them all to be safe. Drop 2 and I don't want to hear any bitching and I don't want any "we've improved" shit either.

Everyone on the planet had Oklahoma taking one of the 4 spots this year, it was their's to lose and they gifted it away.

I’ve felt exactly this way for a while. That year with UCF always seemed like crap. Perhaps they made no friends claiming to be champs, but they were deserving to be in a tournament.

But, even before that....8 teams in a tournament is just awesome. All the blocks thrown up on it for years never added up for me. Move bowl schedules or eliminate games if needed. It’s all overkill anyway.

I like seeing common thoughts moving towards this, along with good solutions to make it happen.

Why? Because they beat 4-loss Auburn in a bowl game? What was on their resume before that that indicated to you they were worthy of a playoff spot? Was it their scintillating 28 point win over 4-8 Maryland...the only P5 they played that year? I mean every other top 10 team Maryland played hung 60+ on them, but that top tier UCF offense right? Must have been their dominating 49-42 win over #21 USF, or perhaps their thrilling 62-55 double OT win over #24 Memphis. I can't imagine why I couldn't see it before, two squeaker wins over fringe top 25 teams is what I always look for in a playoff team.

Everyone on the planet my ass. Even the land thieves didn't think they should be in.

So, "Just win your games...." is arbitrary. That's what I thought.

The committee has put in teams that didn't win their division and teams that lost their CCG, one thing they have yet to do is put in a 2 loss conference champ, and they had the chance with Ohio State in 2017. Don't lose 2 games.
