Predict the CFP Top 25

I think this is a problem though.

They shouldnt be ranking teams based on past success, they should strictly be ranking them based on this season.
They are supposed to. But when it comes down to the nut cuttin', they are human and can't "unremember" the past. It is inside them.
I think a 12 team playoff will help alleviate some of it.

Non "name" teams need to do what Cincy did last year. Win 'em all and don't leave the committee any wiggle room. Even then.........

What would be neat is if Clemson, TCU and Michigan win out. If they all get in, who'd get the 4th spot? With the perception of the ACC and the Big 12, it wouldn't surprise me if Clem and/or TCU got kicked to the curb. Are we SURE both of them are better teams than Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee or Bama? Supposed to be the four best teams. No guarantees just because a team in a conference champ.

I have zero doubt that they would leave a undefeated TCU out for a 1 loss SEC team.

Clemson probably not, but TCU definitely.

Once again I think at some point losses HAVE TO COUNT.

If you are going to say losses don't matter lets just have Bama Georgia Ohio State and whatever other SEC team automatically in the playoff every year because they have the "most talent" on paper.

Only a 1-loss champion. I don't think an at large SEC team would be left out for TCU. There might be an exception for Alabama though.

And I'll repeat, in a 12 team format November basically doesn't matter. All these teams are basically locks for the playoff and we'll be having riveting discussions about Illinois or North Carolina losing with dignity to make it in.

In the NFL, (or any sport for that matter) once a team clinches a wild card they sit all their starters right?

You really can't do that though even with a 12 team format. You still want one of those top 4 seeds. A loss maybe knocks you out of that and makes you play a extra game.

Bama is out if they lose. They would have 2 losses and be a non SEC champ.

Bama pretty much has to win out this year to get in.

I think they would at least strongly consider putting a 1 loss non SEC champ Georgia in over a undefeated TCU.

That's what I was getting at with him saying none of it matters bc everyone is a lock for the playoffs

That's a good point. We should do that against Rutgers and Illinois. I bet we could get away with sitting many. Beating Ohio State is more for personal reasons than national asperations.

this is great and people were saying 12 schools is too much lol

12 schools are too much. We're talking about elite teams making the playoff instead of which garbage team would be making the playoff as these teams are locked in.

Good point.

Good point.

It's hard to see the SEC not getting 2 teams at this point unless Clemson and TCU both stay unbeaten

If 1 of them remains undefeated

SEC Champ, B1G Champ, Clemson/TCU, ? = The ? is most likely a 1 loss SEC team. I really do not think they are putting a PAC team in over a SEC team, even a 1 loss Pac champion. They definitely are not putting 1 loss TCU in over a 1 loss SEC team.

If BOTH of them lose the SEC is definitely getting 2 teams in. Barring some unforeseen disaster occurring.

I think undefeated Clemson and undefeated TCU get over any one loss SEC team unless it is the sole option for the SEC and they are the champion.

Now that being said, I still don't have a lot of confidence in both going unbeaten.

I think Clemson is probably going to finish undefeated through the ACC title game.

TCU has to play @ Texas which will be a tough game for them and then get by whoever in the Big 12 title game, which will be more of a challenge than whoever Clemson gets in the ACC title game. I think they have a good chance of losing. YES I know North Carolina is 7-1 but they barely beat bad Duke and Miami teams and got pretty clobbered by Notre Dame. They are a team who is not as good as their record.

Historically, the Title Game weekend has typically had the most upsets to knock people out of the race. Don't underestimate Clemson losing that game. Although Notre Dame could be tricky for them this weekend.

I do think TCU will lose again. Big12 Title game seems like the most likely suspect.

Eh North Carolina's defense is terrible. Clemson's offense isn't great or any means but they can do enough against that awful defense. I'd be pretty surprised if Clemson lost that game.

It's been awhile since we've had a major conference title game upset.

They wouldn’t strongly consider it. They’d do it in a heartbeat if they’re looking for the four best teams.

If losses are not going to matter just call it what it is then

"Georgia has better recruiting classes than TCU therefore they are automatically better no matter what"

It's a beauty contest and nothing more.
