R.I.P Florida - St Pete

It is blissfully free of tornadoes, hurricanes and whatever storm surge it. Little breezy though, so
But they still have to deal with you, so I'd call it a push...

That said, all safe here, no property damage, lost power for a while, some trees down flooding nearby, our neighborhood has several drainage ponds and they did their job.

I saw yesterday where reporters were doing their stories at homes more than halfway buried in sand.

Here in Tampa/Hillsborough County we still have (at time of writing) 466,000+ customers without power. This includes 126 k-12 school sites. We also have another 28 school sites with flooding/broken windows/downed power lines in them. While the Hillsborough County School District hasn't made an official announcement....figure we're going to be off from school much of next week too. Not much we can do until we have at least 95% schools operational.

I have a nephew who lives a little south of Sarasota. He said he rode it out because by the time he would have had an opportunity to evacuate the traffic on the routes out were parking lots just about.

He’s checked in with the family to let us all know that he and family are safe and secure.

We were in Tampa/Winter Haven on vacation until Tuesday. Traffic really wasn't that bad. Had about 10 minutes of stop and go traffic total on the 6 hour drive home. We didn't take 75 at all though.

I’ll believe it when the shovels hit the dirt

Wow. I was shocked. I didn’t think st Pete would let the world know that Tampa would actually support a team. This year will be crazy for them
was making plans for opening weekend, but even with them playing the Rockies and pirates I bet tickets are still insane.
