Raiders fire Gruden

A few things:

1. This is a stroke of luck for the Raiders, who were locked into a terrible contract with an underperforming coach.
2. The comments are indefensible, but it's interesting how the NFL has selectively leaked documents from the WTF investigation. Would prefer the NFL be transparent with the WTF investigation, instead of singling out people they may have an agenda against.
3. Once the comments were out there, there was no way Gruden was going to have any respect in the locker room and/or from the coaching staff. We are seeing a milder version of this in Jacksonville with Urban.

Give some examples of anyone who’s been permanently ‘cancelled.’

He was forced out of his current job because his shitty takes came out. After some apologies and comments about soul searching he’ll be back on TV in a few years if he wants.
You won't see him coaching in the NFL again. That was my point. There was a time when you could talk yourself out of it but we are not in those times. I'm sure there's other shit buried out there that if it surfaced would cost other's their jobs.

Gruden didn't resign because he's a racist. He resigned because he's an idiot...because only an idiot would include the laundry list of incendiary language used in Gruden's emails. If said behind closed doors, he is still employed today.

Nope.

Marv Albert physically assaulted a hooker 25 years ago, I listened to him all playoffs long this summer.
25 years ago is a lot different than today.

Nick Cannon stated he believed jews control the money in the world and that white people are inferior because they lack melanin last summer. He was reinstated to hosting his television show within six months.

Unless not all racist and/or hateful comments are going to be treated the same, Gruden definitely has the ability to work his way back into television. That isn't even considering that Cannon's statements were objectively more hateful than Gruden's.

Something I wondered as well. Who else has sent incriminating emails, and they're just not telling us (yet)?

What’s the point of your point? And no, there was never a time when you could talk yourself out of this kind of thing. He was told to move on because he’s the face of an organization that doesn’t want to have to defend him or be represented by his comments. It’s that simple. He isn’t entitled to coach in the NFL.

MTV is a different animal than the NFL. Much narrower demographics.

Yeah, you know there's some real dirt on other people in those 600,000 documents.

lol, like you have any idea about MTV's demographics.

Maybe we can buy a clue for you.

uh, my post was clearly directed @DJ who was just playing follow the leader.

but thanks for the update, lil guy.

Gruden was at best mediocre as the Raiders head coach. I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Davis is relieved this is how it ended. Gruden got rid of Mack and for some odd reason got rid of a good offensive line. They started off the year good 3-0, but one of those wins was in OT and as recent weeks has shown, it wasn't a sustainable 3-0 start. Raiders were likely going to finish 7-9 or another 8-8 type year. They are way behind the Chargers and Chiefs within their division.

4 years into the 10 year 100 million dollar contract probably didn't look too promising to Davis and the Raiders.

He's always been mediocre at best. He rode a Tony Dungy built team (and Monte Kiffin) to a SB with Tampa. Since then, he's been a below .500 coach everywhere he's been and hasn't won a playoff game.

Of course he knows MTV's demographics. Anyone who has even casually clicked through their channel knows who they are trying to draw in.

^ lmao

also, dumb that we're pretending that MTV isn't owned by Viacom and Viacom is the one that decided to pull the plug on Cannon initially.
