Raiders fire Gruden

Nick Cannon stated he believed jews control the money in the world and that white people are inferior because they lack melanin last summer. He was reinstated to hosting his television show within six months.

Unless not all racist and/or hateful comments are going to be treated the same, Gruden definitely has the ability to work his way back into television. That isn't even considering that Cannon's statements were objectively more hateful than Gruden's.
Hard to play follow the leader when you quoted my comment originally.....LOL.

He's always been mediocre at best. He rode a Tony Dungy built team (and Monte Kiffin) to a SB with Tampa. Since then, he's been a below .500 coach everywhere he's been and hasn't won a playoff game.
I agree, I never understood the hype he got for years for every single job opening in college his name was tossed as the most wanted. He had that one SB winning season as a young coach, but it wasn't even his players or team, and since that super bowl he did nothing.

that makes zero sense. I quoted you because I disagreed with you, dummy.

Do you not understand how the internet works?

^ doesn't understand that unless Viacom's other interests are threatened, it doesn't matter.
right and Gruden will get hired to work in television in a year or two from now if he goes on the same type of apology tour that Cannon did.

Hiring Gruden will definitely hurt that network's interests in two years, lmao. I'm glad you finally learned how things work, though. Proud of you.

Charisma. He's good at putting on an act that he's THE football coach. But the substance isn't there when you get past the smoke

Something I wondered as well. Who else has sent incriminating emails, and they're just not telling us (yet)?
Seen some speculation there's some incriminating shit about the NFL yanking the Rams out of STL in there.

^ doesn't understand that MTV is owned by a parent company
All the parent companies care about is profit. They’ll ‘cancel’ someone who they think will hurt them, or keep them if they’ll still draw their audience.

How does that help whatever your point is?

I’d be surprised if there wasn’t an anti nudity rule for pro football cheerleaders. If these pics exist I’d be shocked if those ladies weren’t also fired.

That's probably a team by team rule, my daughter-in-law was a Patriots cheerleader for one season and some of the rules that she had to abide by while she was being paid for that part time gig were a bit ridiculous.

I don’t have answers. I also don’t believe we are at a point of answers….but I think it’s always worth trying to reach a mind and change it than banish one like this. At least as a first step.

That….would be the compassionate approach, like Edelman did when he reached out to DeSean Jackson and Meyers Leonard. But, the compassionate of us are falling away from this approach.

What if they fined and suspended Gruden to make the message clear that this is not representative of the Raiders org? Do you really think they would suffer ratings and ticket sales coming off of such a move?

But, that’s all for answers to the exact problem. What concerns me more….to your point about the “…impact that MAY have on the team and organization….”

What is that true impact? In our current world how much true backlash is coming from the public at large? I’m really feeling like the true impact is small. A relatively small group of bitchers and complainers.

But, as an alternative view on all of this let’s see what happens with Netflix backing Chapelle here. This is at least the 2nd or 3rd time the outrage and threats to boycott Netflix have come up.

But, yet, those same bitchers and moaners were watching Chapelles latest special. So……what’s the real threat
How is the Chapelle thing at all similar to this situation? Curious how they belong in the same discussion. That anyone would try to suggest they’re at all related is a good example of how ‘cancel culture’ isn’t a real thing anyone should care about, but a convenient outrage term.

It’s just a way to avoid personal responsibility. It isn’t Gruden’s fault that he said what he said. It’s society’s fault for taking issue with it.

So he's actually got Charisn'tma?

It’s just so fucking bizarre how the masses have latched onto caring about this shit. Fuck Gruden, go find another job like anyone else would have to. Or don’t because you don’t actually have to… but everyone cares… poor guy…

If Gruden was good, he wouldn't have been fired.

You can't say shitty things and underperform.
