Saban takes a MASSIVE shot at Jimbo.

And I can tell you if not for sports I wouldn't know Auburn exists. Not being shitty, that's the truth. Probably a big deal closer to the campus but can't think of a reason I would know them outside of sports.

For what A&M is good at we have already passed Jexas, so I don't worry about the academics. There is plenty of money for the school even if alumni don't donate to the academic side (but we do, a lot). I honestly believe that people have no clue how much money is donated and spent on these two schools in Texas. Y'all see things like this latest $200M sports complex and assume that is our entire budget when its not even close. The 12th Man Foundation brought in $162M in just 2020 (skipped the latest annual report due to COVID)
only thing y'all past us in is enrollment.. Just hoping y'all don't make it difficult to get accepted over the next few years. My daughter is looking that way for vet school

Wish your baseball team could beat the freaking hogs today or tomorrow! That's where y'all need to spend.
Brad Bohannon needs to go. We are up against a lot because of no state lottery but we have just collapsed to end this season. Thought the program turned a corner when we swept Ole Miss and didn’t get swept by Tennessee in Knoxville…but we have collapsed and went 2-12 in our last 14 SEC games.

Only thing, huh? Then why isn't she looking to Austin for vet school?

He just said out loud what everyone else has been saying.

It wasn't as simple as that.

I agree that the full context of the quote wasn't as bad as it has been portrayed.

The problem is that he called out Jimbo, and to a lesser extent, Deion Sanders pretty directly. He straight said that they ''bought'' players which has always meant cheating.

He should have done what he has always done when he has cried about things he doesn't like in cfb, but said it without naming anyone, but with everyone knowing who he's talking about...then going out and doing the same thing.

UTjr is a mess.. 6 mil to a QB that is compared to DJ Ugalaylay?? pssstttt

Because they are behind in NIL.. In fact, in recruiting that's the word.. prospects are interested but as they begin listening to other programs, they realize that these other schools have better systems in place for them to make money off their name

You forgot to blame UT

If a mess is being #1 in Baseball right now, top 20 in softball, winning the SEC Tournament in Men's Basketball, making the Sweet 16 in Women's Basketball, and pulling in a top 10 football class and starting to possibly turn it around in Football as well, I will take it.

A lot of sour grapes here. Also the school did not pay Nico anything. Sprye is a private marketing company, not the school.

You must be listening to the Longhorn people when you say that because it's simply not accurate. OU's gone above and beyond to set things up for the NIL to be a major factor. I've been bugged by those people as well as others I know to get behind their efforts. What is true is Venables and Castiglione are skeptical that going whole hog with the NIL thing is smart. They believe it's a good idea but the amount spent is important to them. Another issue is Venables is skeptical of the transfer portal being used to raid other programs willy nilly. He has said numerous times he has an issue with someone not trying to make their Juniors and Seniors feel as welcome to a program as the hot shots in the transfer portal. But to answer your question, OU will spend plenty.
what have they done to make you think they have went above and beyond? I'm not talking about raiding other rosters either, I'm talking what have y'all actually done to make it enticing for HSFB players to chose to go there? It's the reason why your recruiting is hitting a snag.

Early on y'all did look good. Took the series from us. Schloss got things turned around right after that though.

oh we are bringing other sports into it now? Still even with that.. TEXAS in sports>>UTjr my man

had he not named A&M and Jimbo everyone would have known what he was talking about. Jimbo probably still would have blown a gasket like he did on signing day over "homeslice" or whatever that message board name was. That would have been the typical Saban play, whine just enough to get others to cross a line. Nicky is slipping in his old age.

Bold worlds but no where close in Football:

Texas A&M
National Titles: 1 (1939)
All-Time Ranking: ~16-20
All-Time Wins: 766

Texas
National Titles: 4 (1963, 1969, 1970, 2005)
All-Time Ranking: ~6
All-Time Wins: 928

Also I could point out all-time series record. It will take a lot more effort than winning 10 games a couple of seasons for you guys to pass Texas. Win a National Title and dethrone Saban like Georgia did this year and you might have an argument.

I hate to defend Texas but that is just facts.

And him saying he didn't mean to single anybody out was total BS.

Not right now... In nearly all of the sports listed (except maybe Men's Basketball), Tennessee had a better season than Texas. Even with Men's Basketball, if you counted just regular season, Tennessee was better. Tennessee just choked in March Madness like usual.

Not sure about Texas in the Women's sports.

The list of schools that could outspend USC is very short, but I think A&M and Jexas are both on it.
In the public school space, at least. Private schools have some large endowment funds as well. But I don't see it coming down to this. Like others have said it will self regulate, but I disagree on the reason. I don't think it is a "that's not sustainable to spend" issue. It's a "I'm tired of paying millions to a kid that rides the bench and then transfers out after a year" situation that will tap the breaks. Then the top guys who are starters will get paid. Right now it is an arms race to get all the talent instead of the talent you need. NIL will end up making schools like professional teams who recruit mostly for need, and a little for BPA.

BTW y'all do know right now is the best time for players this cycle and probably '24 to cash in while the system is adjusting. Schools can have money, especially schools that are desperate, but that can only last for soo long. It really isn't sustainable long term

Barry Switzer is in charge of a lot of the NIL related stuff. And Castiglione has put together a group of really good people to help fold everything into place by teaming up with third parties to develop OU's NIL program. I've not seen anything to make me believe they aren't on top of it. And the $$ will be there when it's needed. As for recruiting, OU needs to play well this season and everything will take care of itself. We have gotten commitments from some good prospects but it's still early. OU just needs to have success quickly and a lot of things will take care of themselves.

I clearly stated we were talking about academics and you vomit up these football stats. :L.

Y'all just lucky you haven't run into the actual best team in SEC baseball yet. :suds:
