Writing on the wall? He won the west, the SEC and played for the NC. With arguably his worst team since 2010.

A&M finished 5th and tapped out of their bowl game.

I have no problem with the idea of NIL but it went off the rails in a hurry.

But I have selfish reasons for being concerned. ND is a school that prides itself on being a university first and football team second. It’s major selling point is it’s a 40 year decision because you’ll be set for life even if your football career doesn’t pan out. Even at schools they will send 10+ kids in the draft every year most of those flame out. But it’s a lot harder to make that pitch to a kid who with some good financial planning can be set for life without ever playing a down in the nfl.

ND will get in the NIL race because it has to and it certainly has the alumni who can afford to, but the school will always pull back on the reigns on it because anytime they start rolling in success the collars pull back. And I’m sure there’s a mindset among older and more well off alums who think this NIL is not the right thing to do. Without guardrails they’ll never be able to compete with other schools to sell the NIL angle.

I think Bryce Young is from California. You can sign NIL deals in HS in California. Hell -- I believe Nike just signed two sisters who are 15 and 16 year old high school soccer players to a NIL deal in California.

Without any realistic way to implement a salary cap in CFB, CFB stood no chance introducing NIL. For selfies reasons this is why I was against NIL. To be fair, CFB has never had parity so when the big pocket schools start to filter to the top the parity won't be too different to what it always been

Id do cartwheels if Michigan had been buying players -- our administration has a stick so far up their archaic ass -- we only accept transfers from the portal if they are grad transfers, because they won't accept the majority of the credits from other universities.

Michigan's idea of buying a player is taking them on a field trip to another country to practice.:doh:

Not much if you went 4-4 in conference play. :)

That is why I don't know how Fisher can keep a straight face when he said they didn't buy a recruiting class. A&M hasn't even won a conference title in 25 years, yet somehow they sign the greatest recruiting class ever assembled. :pound:

I'm jealous. I wish Michigan would dip their toe in the water while the NCAA is letting schools buy players. Lord knows we have plenty of money to go around.

Saban doesn't seem to care about any other school using NIL to get recruits. Only the one that with a bad team kicked his ass last year, and now appears to have a better team.
 
I hope Florida hasn't dived right into these shark infested NIL corruption waters. It's just gross.

If poverty stricken students, like I was, see gold chain encrusted players driving around campus in hot ride, we'll never give a penny to the school until things change. It's just all rather vomitus and low-class.

No other school has blatantly done what A&M did. Only other blatant one is Tennessee right now. Texas has a few deals set up for position groups, but nothing like A&M. He also called out Jackson State.

No has done what A&M did. Teams may have paid for a player, but A&M bought an entire recruiting class. When all is said and done -- A&M will be the reason why NIL deals will have strict guidelines and I wouldn't be too shocked if the NCAA investigates the transactions for their recent recruiting class.

If they had paid for one or two players -- it wouldn't have put an enormous spotlight on them. They went all in and bought anyone willing to accept the money. As I said though -- I'm jealous. I wish Michigan would do that. I couldn't care less about the repercussions on NIL deals in the future. I just want to see my team win.
