Spring Games Are Getting Shut Down

Some lame excuse
Your players are getting phone calls with or without a spring game lol
yeah can't think that a school just tunes into a spring game and sees someone have a big day and say "OMG we gotta get HIM" lol

ahh looking forward to seeing Nebraska in the CFP this season... unless his players all get poached of course

I assume you're being sarcastic there.

The schedule is favorable for Nebraska in year 3 under Rhule if he can take the next step like he did at Temple (10-2) and Baylor (11-1).
The next step is being able to win all those games that have been 'One score or less losses' we've gotten accustomed to.

Tennessee and Clemson got in with 10 wins last season.

Clemson only had 9 wins in the regular season for that matter.

If he's on Sark's pace.. he should be in the CFP year 3... is all I'm saying

Ohio State is having a "Spring Showcase", whatever that is. They have played 29 games the last 2 years, so it will probably be a bunch of 7 on 7's with new guys and not a lot with the starters, especially those who have played significant minutes.

I do wonder about the QB competition and how it will be affected.

Day also cut down the timeframe because the season ended so late for them, they are still trying to get guys to recover from the grind. They don't start until St. Patrick's Day - I can't remember it ever starting this late before. I am not even sure they will use all 15 practices.

really hope Texas follows suit but from what Sark was saying..not confident.

Shouldn't affect the QB position for you guys.. that thing will clear up over the spring.. then it will carry over to the fall. Spring games are so vanilla, they just want the fans to be entertained.. and i'm going to miss it.. wanted to see the #1 signing class get on the field and get some run in April.. now we are just going to have to read practice reports and look forward to the minute long highlights of practice put out by the Texas football account :(

Spring games have never really been a big deal here in the north.

I’ve watched two my entire life. Both when I was in school and only went to support friends who were playing.

Not a big loss to me. Understandable why a coach would elect to skip it in the current age. Nothing to gain, lots to lose.
I didn't even know they existed during the Lloyd era. I am still not sure they were even public. I didn't realize Spring Games were even a thing until Rich Rod got here and advertised one for the first time. They're almost always miserable and rainy up here when they do them, so I think I've been to a grand total of 2 because I was free and it was generally nice weather out.

If it's 55+ and sunny, I'll go watch Bryce Underwood run practice drills for a couple hours.

Spring games have been 'dumbed down' for years now.
It's a scrimmage with a little contact.

It's a fun time for fans. That's it.

I may have to fly out for that, mostly because it's an excuse to visit Texas and I love Texas. Bucees and Whataburger, sign me up. A cool little like 10 year old Texas fan sat behind us last year wearing a cowboy hat and he was shocked to learn we do not have those up here lol

You mean Sark's tejas pace. Because if he's on Sark's Washington pace....... Well you know.

If Rhule's on his Temple and Baylor paces he will be in the CFP.

I didn't ghost anyone! Did you ask? We had a tailgate set up but if I remember you were doing your own.

I've been to Texas once, and we did something similar. Flew into Houston, drove to San Antonio, then down to South Padre Island (mostly just to see it for a day) and then back up to Houson. Buc-ees and Whataburgers everywhere. I think I had like 5 or 6 whataburgers and had an equal number of the buc ees sandwiches.

i'm pretty sure i asked.. you COWARD.. umm we kinda just walked around carrying a suitcase of coors light.. met Klatt, met a really nice group of UM fans that fed us breakfast tacos.. we then met up with other people at the surly tailgate (one with like 3 roasted pigs right next to college gameday).. I had a sign that said.. "I'm here you COWARD, MAIZEandBLUE09"

How is Rhule struggling? :headscratch:

He seems to be on pace with his Temple and Baylor stints.

He's certainly on Sarkisian's pace.

His record should improve. Nebraska just bailed on a home and home with Tennessee in 2026 and 2027. So that is two less losses for Nebraska there

I've been in Houston since tuesday. We stopped at the Bucees in Ennis on the way down. The brisket is nowhere what is used to be. What happened?

Good, here’s you chance to cash in G5 teams. Play your season from April to July.

My favorite was when Tressel did "Offense vs the Defense" because they made up the scoring for the defense (like, 3 and outs, turnovers, etc) and the offense always cried that the defense had too much of an advantage.

It used to be a big deal because the winner got steak served by the losers while the losers got beans and weenies.

Now, the loser has to pull weeds and mulch Buckeye Grove (every All-American gets their own Buckeye tree and it's getting to be a pretty big forest.

How they determine the winner will be interesting this year to say the least.

Been to Texas a half dozen times now and I've never had either. I do make sure to have quite a bit of BBQ though
