Steak grilling techniques

4-5 minutes per side on a 1 inch thick ribeye will give you a great mid rare steak.

You don't know what you're talking about.
Apparently your fire is different than my fire.

Kill the cow, wipe its ass and put it on a plate.

But seriously, I marinate my steaks in Dale's Sauce for a bit, season with salt and pepper, cook it just enough to get it warm in the middle, then let the blood soak up in my mashed taters.

I only marinade if it's a cut like round steak or flank.

Olive oil, salt and pepper.

4.5 minutes each side for a room temp steak to get mid rare.

room temperature, pat dry, then coat in kosher salt and a little:

-black pepper
-onion powder
-garlic powder
-celery salt
-very light coating of olive oil

grill needs to be at least 500 degrees Fahrenheit

3-4 minutes on each side

let it rest for at least 5 min.

congrats, you just learned how to properly grill a ribeye. expect people to tell you this is the best steak they've ever had.

fuck all of you.

I just have a regular Weber grill.

What are you cooking with?
Most of my cooking is when I'm at the rv. I have a coleman road trip gas grill. I do high heat/flame for 2-2 1/2 minutes each side to sear. Then move it to the unlit side of the grill and check it a few minutes later.

charcoal, but use quality wood chunks, not garbage like kingsford
I tried these Brazilian chunks that I liked a bunch. Prolly from rainforest trees, LOL.

Celery salt?

I also like to make a foil packet of onions and mushrooms to go with my steaks.

Just wrap mushrooms and onions in foil with your favorite seasonings and some butter. Put it on the grill about 10 minutes before your steaks go on. Fucking delicious. I love putting red pepper flakes in there.

yes, but not much. the flavor is amazing for steaks

I'm gonna go ahead and take your word for it. I'll save the celery salt for my bloody marys.

yaaaaaaas!

freakin' salivating over here.. . .

To add, it I'm grilling steaks, I typically have the butcher cut me 1.25-1.5" ribeyes , preferably bone-in if available. So the times I've listed are for my rare-medium rare preference. I get my wife a filet and will most likely butterfly it for her, since she likes her steak medium.

Weber grill....big pile of lit coals.

1" thk. bone-n rib eyes, coated with drizzled oil, seasoned with Kosher salt and fresh black pepper.

I get the coals completely ashed over before I place the steaks, over hot coals and put lid on for 1 1/2 mins. Turn steaks 45 degrees and cook another 1 1/2 mins. Flip and repeat.

Rest for 5 to 10 mins. to let steak relax.
