GAME The Game: Michigan @ #2 The Ohio State | Noon EST on Fox

The big thing here is I would not be shocked if Day has lost at least some of the locker room, if they come out in the playoff game and that is obvious at that point you can't keep a coach who loses the locker room.
You listen to the players' parents and they're all coming out saying their kids still love the guy on social media. We had several 2025 commits come out on Twitter yesterday posting about how they're still signing this week. I'm not sure it's about "losing" the kids, it's simply not getting the most out of them, which will eventually start to hurt.

It already does hurt. He lost to a beat up bad 5 loss team with a roster that had no business losing that game.

You guys love shitting on Day, yet he's winning 10+ games at OSU every season, so how serious is the risk in reality? OSU is one of probably 2-3 programs in the nation that can say that is the floor simply because of the talent and resources. I get there are no guarantees, but we haven't lost more than 2 games since 2011 when Fickell was the interim coach and we lost a ton of guys to the tattoo "scandal", so we're about as close to a guarantee as there is.
Talent and resources were never an issue for Texas. I agree that y’all can do better than Day, and if he doesn’t deliver y’all will eventually need to take the risk, but don’t think you’re immune from a bad coaching hire. It has to be done, but moving on from a 10+ win a year coach is always gonna be a gamble for any program. Sometimes gambles pay off though

Day has to me proven that he will never win a national title in a 12 team field, the guy just doesn't have it in big games, if he was ever gonna win one it was the year he blew a 2 TD lead in the 4th quarter to UGA. We woulda walked all over TCU.

Most of his big games have the same theme, offense stalling in the red zone and settling for FGs, which end up losing the game in the end.

Now he has to win 4 games (without the Bye) against all at least higher level teams to do it, it's not happening with him.
I think it depends entirely on who we face, but we absolutely can beat anyone else in the nation this year. Oregon is the only unbeaten team and we lost to them by 1 at Autzen in the final seconds, so who else out there is a for sure loss?

If you supposedly have been saying Day is a joke for years now, and he's winning 10+ games, then what's the risk?

We have too many issues IMO to be a even close to sure win against anyone in the 12 team field.

Like i've been pressing hard on, special teams will absolutely be what gets us eliminated. I know Day's dumb ass will still trot the FG unit out there instead of going for it on 4th and <5 and Fielding will likely miss no matter what the distance is. Our punter sucks ass too, if we get into a field position battle we are losing because of his inability to flip it.

I'm not saying there are sure wins, but sure losses? I'm not sure who they would be at this point. Saturday was bad for sure, but everyone has looked like shit at least once or twice this year.

I'm not sure i'd put us at over 50% to beat anyone. Including The G5 team and Big 12 team. Hell Arizona State scares me at this point.

The risk is hiring a dud coach that squanders talent.

Day squanders talent lol, its year 6 and he's won absolutely nothing with the talent he has had. He has 1 real B1G title and that was in his first season in 2019 with the Urban leftovers still cooking.

He won the B1G in the COVID year too but that IMO means nothing now.

He's done nothing outside of his first year and the COVID year.

I’m talking Tom Herman struggling to make bowl games and losing to Kansas while landing top recruiting classes. You haven’t experienced a truly bad stretch in a long time. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen to you

I never said it can't happen.

I'd rather take the risk though than stick with a lame duck who you know isn't brining home titles though.

Who's to say Day doesn't tank into a 3-4 loss a year coach himself? I could see it happening starting next year.

That's largely been Day to this point. I get that we're not immune, but the odds that we're going to nosedive off a cliff makes little sense. I will say, one of AD Bjork's last things at A&M was rectifying the Jimbo hire by bringing in Elko, and that seems to be paying off immediately, so I'm going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. We obviously have the resources to bring in nearly anyone.

I mean, if he should definitely be fired the first time he loses 3+ regular season games

I don’t hate moving on from him now, but there’s always a real risk that the next guy is gonna be worse than the guy you fired.

Always a chance some poor NFL team takes him off your hands anyways

I wouldn’t expect y’all to nosedive, but I didn’t expect Texas to spend over a decade in the shitter either.

I think the best thing for all parties would be an NFL team come calling

I'd say what fucking team is dumb enough to do that, dude can't handle the pressure of the college game hows he gonna deal with the pros?

But then I remember franchises like the Browns, Raiders, Jets & Bears exist.

I know that we need to curb our enthusiasm - Since 2020, we have not showed up for a game (2020 should have been a forfeit), and we won four straight ... it seems like a new Day came to shire fresh sunshine on us. Before that, ohio state won 15 out of 16 games. We still have some ground to gain.
