The Longhorns

Uh, no we didn't all suck in the 90's.
yes.. the SWC sucked in the 90's.. even your paid for teams.. you lost in every cotton bowl post season game.. just like when Texas lost to Miami.. teams sucked..only looked good..playing other SWC teams. C'mon man, even a homer like you has to realize that

the year you went undefeated y'all were on probation too..

Hope based on what? herman will have more luck next year in his 5th year than the first 4? That there is a better QB that Sam is just blocking right now?
Well even if Sam moves on.. They still have the #2 and #3 rated QBs from the 2020 class on the roster. I'm more of a believer in #3 (JaQuinden Jackson) than #2 (Hudson Card). Thing is, they will probably be better once Tom is gone.. when will that be? hopefully when he turtles into another unexpected loss..probably to a covid ravaged practice squad assembled team in baylor lead by mr Concussion Charlie Brewer at the helm..

If Clemson can become what they have become under Dabo Swimmer, i think about any program has a chance. Where was Clemson 10 years ago?
In South Carolina

I left out West Virginia... they are possible a good name if they can get back to form. However the long road trips hurts WVU I imagine.
Too many schools in one state and yes no question the distance hurts WVU,it’s fans, recruiting ect. 700 miles from the closest conference opponent? Terrible.

The money helped WVU and maybe a little more exposure in a different region but... that’s about it

What does Texas look like as far as high star linemen on both sides?

To me that’s the big difference between Texas (and OU for that matter) being ok/good/solid. And “elite”.

Texas and OU (and some other programs) can go toe to toe with anyone when it comes to skill guys but lack a little bit on the line.

Well they absolutely shit the bed on the OL class this cycle..one of the best top tier in the state in years and they got a borderline top/mid player in Hayden Connor.. they goofed the triple legacy bros in Tommy (stud) and James (project, but still better than what we have for C) Brockermeyer (Bama commits), Donovan Jackson (his momma is a buckeye, tosu commit), Bryce Foster (i'm not as high but the rankings love him, ou lean, aggy legacy) and Byrd (ou lean).

Now the DL class of now isn't that bad.. We have the #1 edge rusher in state (5 star) J'Tavion Sanders, and a solid 4 star DE in Jordan Thomas.. now Shemar Turner is another DE/DT that was hot on us.. there's rumors that he already finished his commitment video a couple weeks ago in Austin with his family.. Thing is, with Herman on the hotseat and rightfully so btw.. He may end up in Bama or at aggy when it's all said and done. Worried about Sanders because he's also a stud at TE and ou is in their ear as well..

Texas did a great job last cycle in getting the best DL players in the state (Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton), but they need difference making DEs.. Sanders, if he chooses to, is one in that mold.

OL is funny because they have one of the highest bluechip ratios along it, but they have struggled the past two seasons.. @Wild Turkey words about HAND is too prophetic smh. My hope is that he's the reason why we suck and that we suck at 21 OL recruiting. Hopefully whoever comes next can fix the issues?

Auburn is on year three of putting bandaids on an O-Line in order to compete and all of it is because of Hand. We had an OK class last year and this year's class looks really good so there is hope but still another two years until we have both quality and depth and even that will take a few transfers. Shit if it weren't for transfers the last two years the line would have completely broken before the end of the season.

It's a miserable process to rebuild an O-Line. The D-line is a much easier task and easier to plug transfers into.

To me it is what do you have at the second string. Going toe to toe with the Bama's, Clemson, tOSU's of the world isn't too difficult at the lines with starters. There will be a slight gap but nothing major across the entire units. However, the dropoff at 2nd string is where you get slaughtered. So you can hang for a half, then the second half you get run over.

You are going by history.. We all sucked in the 90's.. hell UTs last "good" team in the SWC got annihilated by Miami in the cotton bowl.. and that wasn't the killer Miami team either. But I'm glad to know had Arkansas somehow stuck and merged into the Big 12, they would have done fantastic as well.

Arkansas left the SWC after 1991. They were not really around in the 1990s. They dominated the decades before that. Granted, they had their up and downs like most program but it was typically Arkansas and Texas competing for the SWC. Texas A&M was usually in the mix as well.

Well God damn was Rice part of the old SWC?

To answer the OP's question, I didn't realize how much better A&M has been since they left for the SEC than Texas has been. A&M probably wins the Big 12 in 2012, 2013 and I would have given them a great shot in 2018 and 2019 as well.

Has more NC’s, individual and team, than any school not named Stanford or USC
A whopping 424 national championships

LOL, half those national titles are probably in sports that most schools (notably the SEC) don't even have or just recently started. Classic example, Pac12 dominated Softball. SEC has only started playing softball in the late 1990s and the ACC also picked it up around that time. Pac12 was mostly playing itself to claim the title.

Texas A&M was the second champ in softball and made 4 of the first 6 championship games. Nebraska was also a runner up.
the first tournament included Bowling green, South Carolina Western Michigan, missouri, Nebraska, oklahoma State and Adelphi (ny school) so no it t didnt.

Tennessee and most the SEC Schools did not even create softball teams until the 1990s. Look it up.

Agree 100%, the SEC seems to do quality depth better than anybody else and hence...

I checked out their stadium size around realignment time and was shocked at what they could hold if people were so inclined to go see them. I think they have remodeled or changed dunno but it was like...70k capacity at one time IIRC.
