Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

How is he allowed to play in a league for 12 year old's?

Isn't there a max weight requirement for Pop Warner?
Usually, anyone over a certain weight can only play a down lineman position, and cannot advance the ball on a fumble or interception.

i'm too lazy to start an "after 4 games where you at thread".

offense was the same shit OL. LaTech was supposed to be crap against the run (at least that's what i had heard), but we could hardly get anything going in the first half. i could probably go back and find something wrong with the OL on every single freaking play. just crap upon crap. so sick of it. The miscues from Haarberg, just several times where it didn't seem he was on the same page as the RB and so he just had to run it himself. happened that 1 play Sims was in there too. As I've been saying, option is the way to go, look at all the long runs. looked more like old school option though, than read option. Haarberg isn't much about giving it though, so that could become a problem. although for the most part, seemed like the right choice most of the times, which is what always bothered me past years when the QB run was there but AM was handing it off. Pass game was like an D, that one Fidone catch and TD. But dropped balls and just too long of developing plays. I just don't understand how other teams always seem to be able to hit quick throws and we never are able to do that.

Our Defense - Run D is ok, going to be interesting next week against Michigan to see if it holds up. Going to stink if Reimer is out. and where did our pass rush go? I only recall like 1 sack. Just seemed like we played more coverage and definitely weren't getting there with 4, let alone when we only sent 3. Our DBs definitely rely on QBs missing throws or WRs dropping passes. A few pass breakups, but seemed like had some more technique, i only really call 1 PI, but seemed like a few others could have been called and a team like Michigan will probably get those calls. One good thing about the Secondary, they can show strong in the run support. This hit, man.

opponent watch. I'm going to start by saying we are a mediocre team.
Michigan - no chance
Illinois - not much different than ourselves - mediocre. figured there D would take a step back without the DC.
Northwestern - beat Minnesota, so better than us? we never should have lost that game. I still don't think much of NW, Minn was up 21 before whatever happened in the 4Q (I didn't watch so i have no clue).
Purdue - again, mediocre
Michigan State - another mediocre team.
Maryland - probably better than us. Their QB can throw it, so going to be trouble for us.
Wiscy - better O than we got, better QB play and OL with a better RB. probably not winning.
Iowa - their offense is not improved. and i'm not convinced their D is much better either.

so, can we win 4? probably not, but other than Michigan, maybe Wiscy if things spiral like at Colorado, i think we'll be in every game. just going to depend if our O ever figures something out.

Turner Corcoran makes this oline shit. His lack of skill fucks up every other players ability to do thier jobs.
You could drive a fence post into the turf and get better blocking.

I'm practically a jeaneous.

Been watching the games at a local dive bar and Corcoran's horrible play is brought up by other patrons around me many times a game.

He must be a fairly decent run blocker, but you can't be subbing for him on pass plays since that would be a sure tell to an adept opponents defensive staff who's spent all week watching film on him.

I'm not positive, but I think I heard he scored a 53 on run blocking. The others were in the low/mid 70's. Teddy was at 90+ on the few plays that he played.

First half summary. We still suck.

Just bad offensive decisions. I just don't understand a lot of calls. That 4th down play in particular, just get under center and push. Need more read option, Michigan looking too fast for regular option and can't just turn around and hand it off, our OL isn't good enough for that.

D, just not as good as i thought. I just hate the "we need the other team to make a mistake to get a stop" mentality. We stopped them one time and it was because they missed two passes and ran the ball on third down.

That one is out of the way. Every game is winnable from here on out. Over the past 6 years We've recruited better than everyone left on the schedule. "The last coaching staff sucked" is not a valid reason to lose anymore.

I'm starting to think though that although we recruited better, maybe those recruits weren't as good as people thought. Look at Corcoran, the worst of our crappy OL, dude hasn't gotten better in how many years of college football? also injuries have really hit the RBs and LBs, so that's not helpful.

Maryland looks pretty damn good, so not sure that one is winnable anymore.

We have got to develop better OL and find a quarterback that can hit open receivers. Maybe a different OC too. I just wasn't thrilled with the playcalling on Saturday, didn't seem like they really attempted to use Haarbergs strengths at all. Just annoying we aren't seeing more Read option and more RPO off that. I hardly recall any instances where Sat has ran one play to setup another play. Michigan might not be the best team to experiment against, but just annoying we aren't running more jet sweep or WR screen, i believe we ran two jet sweep with Kemp (looking at play-by-play, i only see 1 run by Kemp, so the other might have technically been a pass) but my recollection both were decent plays. Just need to find something in the run game, some sort of motion that gets us some decent yards, but then build around that same motion with other options the D isn't expecting. I think i remember Haarberg getting outside the pocket 1 time that wasn't a scramble. when the OL is shit, move the damn pocket.

argh sorry, thats a mess of shit. i really want to do like a film breakdown thing, wish i could find the time/energy to do that.

Too damned many first years of rebuilding the program again and again for me to hold much more interest. I elected to leave town and avoid the game and cannot said I missed it. I made the wife happy and that’s what counts the most.

I just wonder how many QB's they went after in transfer portal before they picked or settled on Sims? Wondering if the QB talent just doesn't feel Lincoln is the place to get the look needed for possible NFL career? Just think they should be able to find someone half way decent??
