The official Michigan Owns Ohio State thread

Conference championships don't mean near as much as they used to.

You think Georgia gave 2 fucks in 2021 when that they didn't win the SEC when they won the national title?
If you win a national title, then conference championships mean less. But for pretty much everyone else, they mean quite a bit still.

Penn State wasn't doing great, and that's reflected by the first 5 year span where Franklin did worse.....and Penn State absolutely complained about recruiting and talent (exactly how they got the NCAA to drop their scholarship limits). We just don't have a ton of Penn State fans aroudn these parts.
Franklin, dealing with massive NCAA sanctions, won 2 fewer games than Harbs over their first 5 years. All while telling recruits you aren't going to play in the postseason for up to their entire collegiate career. You have no leg to stand on in this argument.

That's the point. Ohio State is in an elite group that is not part of "pretty much everyone else". It's NC or bust here.

Franklin never had a post season ban. The NCAA removed it before the 2014 season.

Yes but in coming into the job, that's what he was having to tell recruits. You're trying to say Harbs came into a "broken program" but look at what Franklin came into. It was by a miracle that he got back to being what michigan already was when Harbs took over. Also, the scholarship limits weren't fully restored until 2015. Now let's look at recruiting ranking Franklin came into:

2011: 31st
2012: 47th
2013: 33rd
2014: 24th

Franklin won the Big Ten by his 3rd season. It took Harbaugh 7. Stop crying.

Yep if we go 11-1/2 and win the Rose Bowl it's see as a big disappointment.

Michigan would love that.

That's the difference between the 2 programs at the moment.

I had a michigan fan I know tell me it's "very common" for coaches to take 7 years to get their footing in

The real test is going to be next year for Michigan. They REALLY benefited about more than anyone from COVID and the extra years it allowed players to stay. Basically all those players are finally gone after this year.

Oh, you mean when Penn State backed into the big ten title by the ref's blowing the 4th down call against Ohio State which would have given it to Michigan instead? Ironic. YOU would think that

It is. Especially when they're broken. Name teams who've been broken and then instantly successful quickly. I'm going to guess it's a very short list. And what is "success"? Harbaugh took a 5-7 team and won 10 games in 3/4 first seasons.

It's not a blown call when the runner gets to the line to gain. LOL you're way more butthurt about that call than any OSU fan is about the last 2 years.

Michigan was not broken.

That's like saying Ohio State was "broken" when Urban took over.

It's a blown call when the runner never gets over the line, replay shows he doesn't get over the line but they give it to him anyway. But hey, congrats on James Franklin for losing to Michigan and backing into a Big Ten title that should have gone the other way.

The funny part is them acting like they had a national title stolen from them

Clemson woulda ripped Michigan's ass more than they did us. That's IF Michigan woulda even beat Wisconsin in the B1G title game.

No Michigan fan thought that. But we absolutely should have beaten Ohio State and gone to the B10 title game that year.

Penn State under Franklin
Alabama under Saban
Clemson under Dabo
Ohio State under Urban
Michigan State under Dantonio

Off the top of my head, these coaches all had at least the same amount of success early as Harbaugh, if not more.

Brady Hoke was just a shitty coach. Harbaugh inherited plenty of talent, you want to act like he was rolling out a MAC team though. Hilarious.
It's beyond pathetic that he thinks michigan was "broken" because they had a shitty coach (who, oddly enough, has the same amount of bowl wins as Harbaugh despite being there for less than half the time Harbs has been there LOLOL)
