The PAC-10 is winning

You could say the same about Martinez, but I'll still be interested in how he does at Kansas St.

Not really my point, tho.

If @Thiefery says he's not interested in how Casey Thompson does at Nebraska, he'd be lying.

People troll Nebraska like crazy on here but Nebraska strikes me as one of those teams who could make noise this year. We will see. There is no reason for you guys to be as bad as you are right now.

I definitely sympathize but I think the issue can be explained with the following:

Why would people rather watch a 12-1 MLB versus a 3-2 Minor League Baseball game.

Cincinnati and UCF are considered a smaller league/style of play. Granted, I think going to Big12 will help them get more visibility and they are very strong G5 brands but Alabama is one of those top brands right now.
Okay, I’ll use another “non Minor League” example then. I’d rather watch a good close “Major League” Indiana vs Purdue game than a “Major League” Bama rout of one of the lesser SEC opponents.

How’s that?

I spent years down there and the only SEC games I really care about are the higher ranked teams of which I said are maybe 3 weeks a year during the regular season.

Same could be said about the Big 10 or any other conference.
Nebraska is in the Big 10 so I care about those games more and am more likely to tune into them.

Fair enough. I am one of those guys who would watch UK vs. Vandy because they are local teams. Heck, I went to see MTSU play Vandy because both schools mean something to me.

Miss State vs. Ole Miss is definitely one of those must watch games. Two smaller programs that hate each other. That is what made CFB great and something we are starting to lose (especially outside the B1G and SEC).

They add no value $$$$ but to round out the Big12 teams that the SEC has added, it would be neat to see Kansas and Oklahoma State get an invite. That would give both Missouri and Oklahoma and end-of-year rival. Kansas versus Kentucky would be epic as well.

Nebraska deserves every bit of the trolling they get.

So does tejas. Nobody underachieves like tejas. NOBODY.

I am not saying you are wrong, I am just giving you thought process. Honestly, SEC football hasn't been that good since Saban came to Alabama and sucked up a lot of the talent. It was a lot more interesting prior to Saban. I watch more non-Alabama matchups in the SEC.

Thank you for making my point.

I spent 5 years in Mississippi and am a Southern Miss grad.

I couldn't care any less about Ole Miss vs Mississippi St. If they're both Top 10 I'd tune in and have them in my rotation, but the odds of that are slim.

While Bedlam and Texas vs A&M on Turkey Day are great, THE rival game for both Texas and Oklahoma is the RRSO.

Martinez is what he is though. I think he will do reasonably well in Kansas State's offense. For what he is though. He's not going to be anywhere near Heisman level.

Some people seem to think Rattler is going to blow up and be great.

Teams have more than one rivals.

Hell, Tennessee-Vandy is often an entertaining game. Even when we were good, Vandy often played us very tough (see 1996, 1997, 2002, etc.).

Oklahoma and Tennessee have some similarities in that they have "rivals" that are HISTORICALLY far weaker than them in football but are local such as Missouri and Okie State and therefore claim other rivals that really don't have a lot of geographical connections but were rivals because they stood in the way of both getting to a championship (Florida and Georgia for Tennessee and Nebraska for Oklahoma).

They both do have a border rival that is (or should be) elite.

Alabama with Tennessee and Texas with Oklahoma.

Alabama-Tennessee was a rivalry that dates back to 1930s-1960s when Alabama and Tennessee were often the two best programs in the SEC. However, the rivalry, has for the most part, sucked in the modern era because when one has been good, the other has been terrible. Saban has totally outclassed Tennessee to the point that I don't find the game even fun to watch anymore. Saban sucks up a lot of the talent that Tennessee would get in the past so they always enter the game with far better athletes. We can give them a scare here and there (like last year or 2015) but for the most part it isn't competitive.

Very frustrating to watch as a fan.

I grew up in B1G territory, so I've always been more drawn to watching B1G games. I'd watch a Nebraska vs. MSU game before watching a top 10 game from another conference.

I haven't heard any of these points going into this season.

It's really what you are used to watching I guess.

No way am I sitting through a game between like Vandy and Kentucky. But i'll watch Northwestern vs Illinois.

Exactly. I wish these smaller programs got more love by fans and were more competitive. CFB is fun when there is more parity.

Perhaps NIL will open the door for some parity. I definitely think it could help programs like Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, etc. who have struggled some with recruiting consistently.

It's pretty painful watching 2 truly terrible teams, regardless of what conference they are in.

I'd rather watch a blowout that's somewhat exciting on one end than Duke and Syracuse struggle to do anything against each other. Just cause a game is close definitely doesn't mean its good, lo;l.

I'd have Wisconsin vs Iowa at the top of my rotation before LSU vs Florida.

This is another reason why realignment/brands are so important right now.

You could have top ten Oklahoma State and Iowa State playing each other but that maybe overshadowed by a B1G or SEC matchup at the same time.

I will say this, someone who grows up mostly watching SEC games is very unlikely to watch Illinois and Northwestern but if there is a close Penn State vs. Ohio State game, they are tuning in. People down here will watch Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Heck, even Nebraska sometimes because they have the NAME.

I watched OU-Nebraska last year over some SEC matchups just because of the programs/name and the interest behind the rivalry. Sometimes I will watch Oregon, USC, FSU, etc. However I am probably not going to watch a Baylor vs. Iowa State type game.

If you can even find them :). Yeah, I didn't watch much of Vandy last year because they were dogshit. I think that I did watch their game against UConn for some reason lol. I think nothing else was on that interested me at the time.

I think Martinez is gonna have a great year. He's never had a RB like he'll have with Deuce Vaughn, that little dude is crazy good. They've got 3 RS SR's at WR, and will start 4 RS SR's and a SR on the O- line. I think he'll run it a little more effective, given his surrounding cast. I know it's easier said than done, but if he can stop doing dumb shit, he can be really good.

Lol yea, in some weeks you get that time slot where there's just nothing interesting going on so then is about the only time something like that gets turned on.

Just because two teams play a lot of games doesn't mean they are Rivals.
Not once in my life have I ever considered Oklahoma State a 'Rival'.
