To the current CFP, we hardly knew you ...

im not sure there will be more. I feel like there will be less. a few low tier bowls will go away.
Google it, but you can't believe how profitable the bowl games are for ESPN. Even the crappy ones. They own something like 34 bowl games and they make ESPN an average of something like 4 million each. So ESPN makes $136 million on crappy bowl games. I was surprised when I read about it. The NY Times actually ran an article on it.

we are taking 4 match ups and putting them in home stadiums instead of those games going to bowls. unless they are changing the criteria for bowl eligible

You said they might end up dropping some low bowls. I simply said those low level bowls make a lot of millions for ESPN. I don't see any bowls getting dropped due to the CFP expanding. They will find 8 more teams at the bottom to fill those spots.

so change up the criteria? allow sub .500 teams? call up FCS teams? wait for the first round losers and invite them after a playoff game?

Money talks, bullshit walks. They will do something to fill the games. 5-6, whatever. Look, bowls haven't meant shit for years. They give a team 15 more practices, let players' families go on a vacation and get some swag. 6-6, 5-7, who really cares. ESPN making another $4 million ... that they care about.

Yep exactly. And people will still watch, I know I do. Lol.

Yup, me too. Many years ago, I recorded them on VHS and/or DVD. I still have a few. I had to catch the Continental Tire Bowl or the Frosted Flakes Bowl or whatever. If I was out with family, friends, etc. More than likely being dragged somewhere, I watched it when I returned home. A few years ago, I quit catching the lesser bowls. But, last couple of years, I have been back full force.

They already allow (5-7) teams when they can't fill all of the bowl slots.

They use Academic Progress Rate (APR) to determine who gets in.

Yea that let Rutgers into a bowl game in 2021

In 2015 Nebraska, Minnesota, and San Jose State got postseason bids at (5-7).

They went 3-0

(5-7) Nebraska beat (8-4) UCLA 37-29
(5-7) Minnesota beat (7-5) Central Michigan 21-14
(5-7) San Jose St beat (6-6) Georgia St 27-16
