I live in Curacao. Haven't been able to fly to the US since around February.

I usually take 2 trips per year, and load up on Amazon shit from their lockers.

Thanks Amazon!
I think I'm going to buy a 50" JVC roku tv for my rv outside tv and replace the 32 inch.
$219!!

From walmart.
Walmart is trying really hard to compete. I hope someone will keep Amazon on their toes.

Work, that is ending soon. I've been an expat for about 5 years now.
According to the Google, it's cheaper down there, and it looks pretty nice.

Also says crime is mostly petty theft.

Yes, it looks nice, but regarding cost and crime...

Cost:
Everything imported has a heavy duty, so electronics are very expensive. You pay around a 40% duty. And due to the climate, most food is imported as well. Still probably cheaper than SF and NYC, but generally speaking, food is about the cost of what you would find in large US metro cities (non-sale price). Maybe a bit higher.

Crime:
Since COVID hit, unemployment is estimated to be about 60% right now. Strong arm home invasion is a common occurrence. I personally know several people who had this happen to them.

But like any tourist country, you are safe if you are in tourist areas. Like you mentioned, petty theft only is the concern. You won't be in the bad parts.

so you no longer have US citizenship? or you maintain dual citizenship?

I'm a US citizen with permanent residence in Curacao.

Dual citizenship here would result in a Dutch passport (and allow me to work anywhere in the EU). I'd love it, but I have to learn two languages (Dutch and Papiamento). I'm too dumb to learn languages. No dual citizenship for me.

Good morning good people. Well it's Black Friday. I know that excites everyone. Doesn't everyone already have a flat TV from previous sales and/or looting?

Lots of football today. Gotta play the games as fast as you can or Covid will cancel another one. Pick-em is down to 7 games from the original 10 already. Teams should be allowed to schedule out of conference games if their game is canceled.

The food was good yesterday. Even had a glass of wine. The Cowboys were....................the Cowboys.

Thought for the day: Face your fears and live your dreams. That means I'm going to destroy every single plate of Mac N Cheese in America.
