Braxman says in that video above that it's virtually impossible to fight the botnets now and will be impossible in the future whether you're connected or not. Facial recognition AI will be unbeatable.
 
Wow, thought this was bullshit but just checked the Alexa app. Right where the OP says the setting is, and by default it is enabled. Fuck that. I have a mesh network to make sure all my stuff is connected no matter where on my property, or just near it, I am. Let my neighbors do the same, don't "reserve a small amount of bandwidth for [my] neighbors".

I don't have any of that Alexa/Siri stuff.

When that shit becomes self aware, I don't want to end up like Emilio Estevez in Maximum Overdrive. Stuck at some gas station/diner fighting off 18 wheelers with some chick who's Stephen King horror movie hot but not hot hot.
