Michigan is a 9.5 point UNDERDOG against Indiana.

In football.

I miss our old coaching staff.

Jesse Minter might actually be one of the best defensive minds in the country at either level.

He is very good, no doubt, but it certainly helps they have played some absolute trash offenses as well.

They've played basically only trash offenses. They've faced two top-20 QBs in terms of QB rating, one being Fields who was benched, the other being Kyler. They lost both games, and Fields actually looked really good. We'll see how they do against Baltimore/Cincy/ATL coming up but yeah, it's been largely a product of facing dogshit offenses to this point.

Yeah, Kansas City should have been a good test but Mahomes hasn't been playing like Mahomes so far (the fact that they are undefeated with how bad he is playing is scary) and the Saints offense started off the season fantastic but has fell off a cliff

Yeah they got to face NO with Rattler at QB, and Mahomes has been honestly very bad this year. 6 of their 8 opponents are in the bottom half of the NFL in total offense, and none are top 10.

I was told in the preseason there would be zero drop off with Wink taking over

Anyone that thought that was naive. I wanted Michigan to try to keep Minter. The secondary was going to see some dropoff, but it's been pretty disappointing. McBurrows has barely played, Will Johnson has barely played and even he's looked kinda meh, and even Hill missed the Oregon game. The Rod Moore injury was a huge blow in the offseason. I'm not going to miss Wink and his dumb 3rd down plays/blitzes. He's trying to run NFL shit with college players, just run your base defense and add wrinkles as the season goes on. Mason Graham is fast for a DT, but he's not fast for a DE.... stop trying to line him up there. Stop putting players in positions they don't normally play.

That being said, I can't fully blame him for this game. That Michigan was able to hold Oregon to 38 (with a garbage TD at the end) with their secondary situation was pretty surprising. The first half was pretty rough, but the defense stepped up in the 2nd half and gave some opportunities for them to get back in the game.

To go further (saw another Michigan fan bragging about this somewhere else) through 8 games last season, 5 of their opponents were in the top 10

Yeah if they have the #1 defense after their next 5 games, I'll be impressed, but they're entering a very different part of their season now.

I've seen multiple people say this but I don't really get it. Here's how many points Oregon scored in each of their Big Ten games:

UCLA - 34 (431 yards)
Michigan State - 31 (477 yards)
Ohio State - 32 (496 yards)
Purdue - 35 (421 yards)
Illinois - 38 (527 yards)
Michigan - 38 (470 yards)

The 31-38 range seems to be where they're at vs. pretty much everyone.

Well, yeah. But considering Oregon had 300+ yards and 28 points at the half, I think most fans were bracing for you guys to drop 50+. I know Oregon doesn't throw deep a ton (save for the OSU game), but I was surprised they didn't try a few on Saturday

That wasn't meant to be some kind of crticism of Oregon's offense. It's a very good offense and they've gone up against some good defenses

While I wouldn't mind them running up the score, against less capable offenses Oregon has been content to just bleed the clock

I didn't take it as a criticism. It was just a very typical Oregon game. Oregon has gotten off to quick starts and slowed down in the 2nd half vs. pretty much everyone B1G opponent besides Ohio State.

Oregon has three 3rd quarter points vs. Big Ten opponents (6 games).

The rest of the season looks like an easy stroll and that 31-38 should go up. Only the Ms and upside down Ms left. Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin, Washington. The only reason it might not go up is if injuries are overly abundant and/or Lanning takes the foot off the gas.

Do we really have to play them again???
