100 yard INT return for TD
96 yard rush for TD
74 yard reception, no TD. same receiver caught 16 yarder for TD a couple plays later

WTF!??!

Not my Badgers

Well, it’s about damn time they got tf out of the 1940’s and caught up with everyone else.

Now, if only Iowa could do the same.

The Jim Knowles defense was rather basic against the Fighting Irish.

Ohio State's D held N.D. to 253 total yards. 54 of those came on a first drive pass play. Held the Irish to 3-13 on 3rd down. N.D. Only averaged 2.5 yards per rush. And shut them out in the second half.

Compared to the dumpster fire D the Buckeyes have had the last two seasons this was a big improvement.

Was that against Northern Illinois ~ impressive!!!

What would you like for them to have done better? They had a big play in the first drive and then two drives led by crazy circus catches

Iowa State? More impressive!!!

Not much to go on with week one.

B1gW will be interesting. I like Minnesota chance to finally break thru, they'll need to get over ia hurdle they've had though

OSU's defense definitely looked better, but I think ND's offense is a train wreck too. That QB of ND did not look good at all. I was told it was his first ever start in college and it showed. Also -- ND's offense has zero threats other than the TE Mayer. OSU simply stacked the box and dared ND to pass the ball and they couldn't.

I was more impressed with OSU's OL run blocking in the 4th quarter. They looked good.

But that was the offense that Ohio State struggled with last season. A physical run game. The young guys stepped up. Mike Hall was a beast. JT had a great game as well and Sawyer had some pressures as well a a pass deflection.

That's one of the best O lines that Ohio State will face even missing Patterson and they did very well against it as opposed to last season where they would have been bullied

Knowles said in the post-game presser that this was just the basic defense and there is much more to add.

I don't consider the defense being "basic" with that level of performance to be a slight at all.

I agree, they looked better, but what OSU was able to do in the game was sell out against the run. Their LB's were coming up on the run and the safeties were replacing them stacking the box.

It is why I mentioned earlier -- I couldn't believe ND had no one but Mayer on offense.

The OSU guy on defense that impressed me was Hall. He took full advantage of Patterson being out -- he had multiple plays where he got in essentially untouched. He looks like a quality player.

The Shoe's a tough place to make a first career start.

The D. Obviously it's only one game but I haven't seen them look like that in a couple of years. The next two games are junk games. Can't properly judge where the D is until conference play starts. I liked seeing the 2nd half shutout. Not when's the last time that happened.

And the offense. Not anywhere near as dynamic as I was expecting. No worries though. And gotta give the N.D. D credit for how they played. Hope whatever Smith-Njigba's issues were he'll be okay and it's nothing serious.
