McCord only looked somewhat decent at times BECAUSE OF HARRISON.

Put McCord on Kansas State last year and he's a comical mess. Nobody is claiming Howard is like the 2nd coming of Stroud or anything, but he definitely has that "it" factor that McCord was sorely lacking.

There's a big reason Howard was highly sought after in the portal and McCord was not.
I think it's easy to say that if we had Howard last year, we would not have been looking to bring in a Kansas State version of McCord. Nor would any other P5 team. Not to say he doesn't have talent and can't put it together, but he's just simply not built for big time football.
Also Michigan fans love to make it seem like Ohio State fans are claiming Howard is Michael Vick or something when it comes to running. He is not of course, he's still way more mobile than McCord who is a total statue, he's not going to run for 100 YPG or anything like that but he can move around a lot better when the line breaks down and pick up a few needed yards here and there when he has to, unlike McCord.
Compared to McCord, I'm basically Michael Vick. He was never meant to be mobile, but how the hell do you only have four carries of 5 or more yards for an entire season? Howard's ability to not only move around in the pocket but take off and run will be a welcomed addition.

They are hilarious, I was reading their message board and they were actually claiming that McCord would THRIVE in Chip Kelly's offense. Which has historically worked at it's best with QBs with mobility.

The whole fan base is delusional, and a little taste of actual success has definitely gotten to them to the max.

Plan accordingly. According to reports Ohio State vs. Oregon is the NBC primetime game at 7:30. Would have been too difficult to make it a 9:00 a.m. PT start. Given the rest of the slate this would be my guess for the B1G Saturday lineup:

Big Noon - Washington at Iowa - 12:00 | Fox
B1G on CBS - Penn State at USC - 3:30 | CBS
B1G on NBC - Ohio State at Oregon - 7:30 | NBC

Wisconsin at Rutgers - 12:00 | FS1
Purdue at Illinois - 12:00 | BTN
Minnesota at UCLA - 10:00 | BTN

Yeah... Fox & NBC made a draft trade...

Fox normally gets the top 3 picks in the draft, but they traded their 3rd pick (Ohio State at Oregon) to NBC to move up later for another choice.

The following article explains it:

Fox traded third pick in Big Ten schedule draft to NBC

.

Only other game worth it is OSU/Michigan, right?

And this season Texas vs. Michigan since that's a Fox game with it being a Michigan home game. OSU vs. Oregon was clearly a top 3 choice, but logistically couldn't make it happen given the start time. Rumors are because of this trade Fox was able to select Alabama vs. Wisconsin and OSU vs. PSU or Oregon vs. Michigan later in the year.

Yup... as stated in the article Iinked in my post above, FOX took Ohio State vs Michigan as the 1st pick of the draft, and Texas vs Michigan as the 2nd pick of the draft...

and the article also states that by trading away their 3rd pick (Ohio State at Oregon) to NBC, FOX took Nov 2nd which will either be Ohio State at Penn State or Oregon at Michigan.

NBC will have a heck of a double header on Oct 12 with Notre Dame vs Stanford at 3:30pm Eastern, followed by Ohio State vs Oregon in prime time.

Tweet from 2019. Never more true than the current champs.

The Coleman kid from Washington, I think he transferred from Zona, looks like a beast. He has power and acceleration. Great vision.
I’m glad Ohio St doesn’t play him this year.

He reminds me a lot of Nick Chubb

He was hard for them to bring down one on one for sure. Hard to say if they have a legit worthy line to keep breaking those holes given it was just Weber State though. Line was better than I had expected overall for a first game as a unit even if they did cause a couple of bad penalties that took points off the board.

Same with the D. Dominated most of the game against what is supposed to be a challenging RPO Weber offense, but it's Weber.

Lets see how both units progress over the next two weeks.

After week 1 it looks like the following four teams are going to be fighting for the basement in the B1G this season:
Michigan State
Minnesota
Northwestern
UCLA

In its first college football weekend as an 18-team conference, Big Ten teams combined to go 17-1. Minnesota suffered the conference’s only Week 1 loss in a heartbreaking 19-17 defeat to North Carolina that ended with a missed 47-yard field goal attempt by Dragan Kesich, the 2023 Big Ten Kicker of the Year.

giving the Big Ten the best record through one week of any conference that has more than two teams

Man, it's gonna be a rough year 1 for Foster at UCLA. That schedule is absolutely brutal also. I like him as a coach there and hope he has a long leash, as he could turn things around, but it's just going to be a really long year. If they hit 2 conference wins I'll be shocked, and even 1 is far from a guarantee.
