Considering no OSU fans are saying or have said that, mission accomplished.

He is pissed off bc I said I like Ohio States chances. Although that was about the same time I found out about McLaughlin

Plenty of OSU fans have chirped that they will win the rematch
You think Oregon will win the rematch?

How Dare You Greta GIF

I still like our chances. He was perhaps the 5th or 6th worst case loss on the offensive side of the ball. Not that it isn't a big loss, but there are certainly bigger ones. I just hate it for him the most.

There's "chirping" about winning and then there's saying it's a lock. Regardless of which it is, this should ultimately not change much, if anything.

Really sucks, he was having a monster year and was probably the frontrunner for the Rimington Award. That said, this doesn't hurt as much as Simmons IMO, since Hinzman already has a full season starting under his belt.

It might hurt a lot considering they have the shuffle the OL again after it was working pretty good since they came to that configuration.

I put his loss a little higher bc of how thin we already are at o line and how well he had been playing.

I agree it really sucks for the kid though

Seth McLaughlin rumored to have torn his Achilles in practice. Pretty strong sources. Ohio States o line has been devastated this season
Fuck that really sucks

Where is the OLine depth and development?

I know this isn't a hot take, but Frye has been disappointing in that position. 11W was saying he's in his third year and might not have a single one of his recruits starting next week.

Our OL recruiting has been ass, we seem to always go all in on 5* guys, lose out, they have no real backup options who are like solid 4* kids so we end up with low tier roster fodder.

He has been fucking awful on recruiting and really not all that great in coaching/development either.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go. Whatever the hell Lecharles Bentley is making, can we double it and bring him home?

Dude get me corn fed 3-4 stars from Ohio who bleed scarlet and grey

I remember under Urban O-Line was always a top priority. Let's bring that back. Need some violent, hardworking guys in the trenches AND a coach who can develop them into NFL talent.

Same on the other side of the ball. If the game has passed Larry Johnson by, it is time to make the tough decisions.

The game HAS clearly passed him by, the lack of development across the Dline is ridiculous.

Ever wonder if the universe has other plans?

OSU lost their starting center, most likely for the rest of the year.

Injured his achilles. Reportedly non-football related.

Not confirmed by OSU yet, but people close to the situation say 'he gone'.

Second major injury to an already thin o-line.

Not sure what they will do -
Starting center last year Hinzman and backup center this year was moved into LG a few weeks ago when the LT went down.

Will they move him back to center and put the backup LG (Severald)?

Will they leave him at LG and start a rFr Padilla who has never started?
With a much more expanded playoff, injuries and/or avoiding them should come into play much more than it has. Especially if those injuries are congregated in one position group.

I can't see it hurting a lot. They have options of either just sliding Padilla in (former 4* RS FR, has looked fairly solid in practices) and that's the only change, or they put Hinzman back at C and bring back Siereveld (this would be my second choice).

At any rate, while Seth had been playing fantastic ball, this shouldn't determine our success for the rest of the season.

I love your optimism, but subbing in a guy at center who has barely played but will be expected to make the line calls against 2-3 of the best d-lines OSU has played all year vs a 5th year senior who has started 40+ games including CFP games is not "sliding in".

Seth was a mid-year all-American and was going to be the All American center this year prior to the injury. One NFL scout called him "the most improved player in college football". Not the most improved center, or lineman, but the most improved player regardless of position.

This is going to hurt. Hopefully, they can make up for it with creative play calling but make no mistake, this is a big blow.

And then this . . .

Wouldn't it be cool if Ohio State loses to both Indiana and Michigan and ends up in the Mayo or Pinstripe Bowl?... I would laugh my ass off if that happens...

however, with 3 losses, the Buckeyes would probably get the Citrus Bowl or ReliaQuest Bowl...

but I would still laugh my ass off if OSU loses to both Indiana and Michigan...

Go Hoosiers and Go Wolverines!
that is delusional. Funny? Sure but no way in Hades that happens

To add: I think line chemistry is sometimes more important than individual talent.

Plugging in a guy who hasn't been getting a ton of reps with the others can throw things off. It comes down to more than 'can he block or not'.

Per Day during after-practice availability tonight, Hinzman to center, Severeld to LG.

Padilla is not that guy (yet).

More OL injuries just in time for Oregon to get its stud DE back that missed the 1st OSU game.

Sad to see it, but won't be sad with the results.

Again, it sucks. To say Hinzman has "barely played" is simply ignorant. He was our C all year last year with that retard McCord. Now he has an actual intelligent QB. This is going to be a net negative but not one that should change much. One thing that was noted when Simmons went down and Hinzman was plugged into the starting lineup was that he was very vocal, and we desperately needed that. If it doesn't work, we can look at Padilla too, but this is far from being a season destroyer. We still have the key players on offense that can win us a national title.
