@moxie - I hate to be the bearer of potentially bad news (hopefully, you already know), but it looks like there are going to be PSPS's in parts of most Bay Area counties beginning tomorrow. Right now, it looks like it will only be from tomorrow through Thursday.
Had to Googly this.

California is fucked up!?

After it was reported PG&E equipment was likely responsible for starting ... I can't remember which fire it was, I think up in wine country, they got all paranoid they were going to keep getting sued, so decided to just shut off power when a high wind/low humidity event was forecast. Last year was the first time, and ... let's just say enough people went ballistic over how they did it (just shutting off entire fucking counties for days), they're at least being more specific in the targeting, at least it seems like it. After last year, while, sure, it will be a pain in the ass if it happens again, I'm fully prepared.

PG&E is a bunch of the biggest cocksucking, shiesty, fuckface crooks in America. Better check the fridge to see what's gonna go bad

Newsome wants to ban natural gas from new constructions.

So, PG&E cuts off the electricity and California cuts off the gas. Time to chop wood.

That is some thrid world shit right there.

But muh electric cars!!

Like the Dodgers, PG&E sucks donkey dicks in hell!

If it's really just going to be 24-48 hours, you shouldn't really lose anything. If you have a cooler and an ice maker, I'd get the ice goin', just in case. I'm charging everything, have a full tank of gas already, and after last year, I got a fuckton of camping lamps.

Unreal.

@moxie, you need to set out some squirrel traps for additional protein.

@Illustrious Potentate and @Camfantasy can tell you what to do when you catch one.

This is how California operates:

1. Have 40 million people inhabit a state that is 10% coastline, 15% arid farmland in the north and 75% dry mountain & desert scrabble.
2. Steal as much water as possible from the north and east to funnel into L.A.
3. Restrict all oil, gas and nuclear power plants from new building or even retrofitting to provide even moderately priced electricity.
4. Set ridiculous fuel emission standards and mandate that anyone who wants a car, pay for an expensive electric version.
5. Complain, complain, complain, complain and have the U.S. federal government subsidize California's stupidity.

It says a lot that even with insanely high taxes, California can't be either solvent or supply its residents with an attainable basic standard of living.

when we bought the new house, the wife insisted we get solar with it. I wasn't really sold, but you know...happy wife, happy life and all that. Turns out it was one of the best things we did. We have SoCal Edison for electric now (from SDG&E), but with the solar, our bill has plummeted. Fuck them all!

California is already signalling a big tax increase.

That Newsome guy is insane.
CA's best governor in the last 30 years was a foreign-born, muscle-headed actor, who still couldn't pronounce basic English words or speak without a heavy accent, despite living in the U.S. for 35 years prior. What does that say about other guys...?
